Rated 3 out of 5Â by vince2261 Good vest, poor zipper
The vest seems to be of very high quality overall, but they really skimped on the zipper. All of my previous vests, which by the way some cost only half what this one did, always came with a large tooth zipper, which made putting it on an exicted dog very simple. This zipper is much more fine toothed, so it makes the job a lot more difficult. They really missed the boat on this one.

Rated 3 out of 5 Good Vest , But Hard to Size
I have what i thought was a medium size yellow lab hardly 70lbs and in very good shape so i bought a medium vest which didnt fit so i tryed a large which wouldnt zip up so then tryed and XL which actualy fit. vest looks good and seems to stand up good. I recommend buying at least one size larger than what you think the size your dog is, size scale is not very acurate so use your best judgement before buying. Bass Pro is very good about returns if you need to exchange sizes. But overall not a bad buy, your dog will thank you on the cold days

I believe these are cut wrong. Neck size was 17" as advertised, but body size was more like 22" than the 26" advertised.

The best reason to recommend this is that your dog can wear this on a cold day and you don't have to be embarrassed if your buddies see you walking your dog. Even if you don't hunt, that's a good thing.
This is a wet suit for a dog. There is a fair chance you will have to modify it before it is right for your dog.
I bought the first one when I was alone. At the checkout I found out that I can bring my dog in the store. That's one more reaon I like to shop there. I exchanged the first one for one I got to try on my dog at the store. No problem there either.
The product comes with a handle you can use to get the dog into the boat. - good. Two narrow pockets along each side seem ready for tiny floatation devices. - ??? I replaced the zipper tab with a sturdy split ring and a strap. Plan on replacing the zipper tab before you get out in the field.
Unless you get a good fit right out of the bag, consider getting a larger size and then tailor it as needed.

I'm looking for something for Northern Ontario Ice Fishing...I want my dog to be comfy so I can fish with no worries in conditions varying from:
+5C to -25C / 41F to -13F
slushy snow conditions in warm weather
glare ice and hard pack snow in cold
I'm worried that the fleece in other vests will get wet and that the neoprene in this vest will freeze...
Any suggestions? Is this a good product for what I need?
Note: My dog is a Boxer and she's rather small for her breed.

How warm would be too warm for my dog to wear it and not get overheated while wearing it?
Answers
A:Â
Contrary to what most people believe, dogs overheat more quickly than humans do. Also, there are many different factors that may play a part overheating; for example, humidity, size/breed of dog, and type of outdoor activity may affect how quickly a dog overheats. Please consult your dog's veterinarian for the best answer.A:Â
My dog has worn it up to about 60 degrees F. I did keep her in the water a lot just to make sure she stayed cool.A:Â

Cabela's offers a 5mm thick dog vest. I prefer the thicker neoprene for the dog.Answers
