Removable flotation and built-in floating neck handle for water work. Dual closure zipper and hook 'n' loop fasteners. Color: Realtree MAX-4®. Imported.

Dog Vest Size Chart:
  • M: 17'' Neck, 26'' Chest
  • L: 18'' Neck, 28'' Chest
  • XL: 19'' Neck, 31'' Chest
  • 2XL: 20'' Neck, 33'' Chest
Sizing Instructions: 1) Measure your dog's neck (about 3'' down from the base of the skull). 2) Measure around your dog's chest (about 1'' behind the front legs all the way around). 3) When measuring, be sure to keep the measuring tape snug for a good, accurate measurement. 4) Choose the largest dog vest closest to your measurements – the velcro closure will allow for some adjustment.
Rated 2.4 out of 5 by 22 reviewers.
Rated 5 out of 5 by quality product I purchased this vest 3 days before the last day of duck in NC. My Lab is trim and athletic and runs Hunt test and upland, and the measurements of 19" collar and 31" chest was right on from a fit standpoint. A little wide under the front chest opening between the legs, but very easily marked with an edge of soap and trimmed with my tin snips. He did a ton of running, loved it in the cold water on that 22 degree morning with no chafing or rubs in any area. Zipper was husky I thought, and the velcro enabled some take up, but not much as the zipper set the closure size. Very pleased !! February 16, 2011
Rated 3 out of 5 by Not too bad Love the vest, but the zipper broke the 2nd time I used it. I would recommend it to other hunters (in fact I have) as long as you're ok with needing a partner to help you zip it up. January 24, 2011
Rated 4 out of 5 by Good vest despite reviews I bought this vest two years at the beginning of the 2009 duck season and hunt at least once a week every season. It has lasted very well for me so far and no problems with the zipper. She beats it to death in the thick tules we hunt and there has been only minimal seam and stitching damage. The sizes do run a little small as my 80lb female lab fit into a XL with no rub marks on the dog. I don't know if I got lucky with the quality on this one based on many of the reports, but I have been very happy with it and will buy another when the time comes. December 31, 2010
Rated 4 out of 5 by Mems Vest The pleeted design really lets you give this vest a custome fit. The only thing I dont like is that the neck is to loose. My chessy weighs 85 lbs the large vest is to small and XL is very big in the neck but fits every else. December 3, 2010

No, it does not have Handles to lift your Dog.That is where I found the lack of performance, but has a pull rope hook where you can hold her back, and release her on a dime.

I'm looking for something for Northern Ontario Ice Fishing...

I want my dog to be comfy so I can fish with no worries in conditions varying from:
+5C to -25C / 41F to -13F
slushy snow conditions in warm weather
glare ice and hard pack snow in cold

I'm worried that the fleece in other vests will get wet and that the neoprene in this vest will freeze...

Any suggestions? Is this a good product for what I need?

Note: My dog is a Boxer and she's rather small for her breed.

A:
Contrary to what most people believe, dogs overheat more quickly than humans do. Also, there are many different factors that may play a part overheating; for example, humidity, size/breed of dog, and type of outdoor activity may affect how quickly a dog overheats. Please consult your dog's veterinarian for the best answer.

My dog has worn it up to about 60 degrees F. I did keep her in the water a lot just to make sure she stayed cool.

The one I got recently didn't have the the zipper tab. It came with a sturdy cord with a cap on the end. It's as sturdy as anything you'll find on a wetsuit for a person.
