I would not recommend this vest, I used it five times on my Brittany dog and it ripped out on the side. My wife sewed it with fish line to keep it together so far so good. However, if given the chance to do it over I would not.

I bought the XL vest for my 70ish lbs. lab last year. At fhe time of purchase I was happy with the vest. It has multiple stitches on the seams for customizing the fit. Now two weeks left in her second season with the vest...it is starting to fall apart. The seams started coming apart at the beginning of season. now the camo and kevlar is separating from the actual neoprene. Also the neoprene is tearing across the chest. To the vest's credit it has been used a lot...and it has made a couple of barb wire fences and we hunt in water full of limbs and button willows. I am just disappointed that she will need another vest. If I buy a 50 dollar hunting jacket for me...I would expect more than two seasons.

Save $10 more and buy yourself a different one. I bought one for my dog and it has 2" tears in the seams at the armpits after only 2 hunts. The dog was not put through anything difficult. This vest simply DOES NOT handle the elements like it should.

I'm looking for something for Northern Ontario Ice Fishing...I want my dog to be comfy so I can fish with no worries in conditions varying from:
+5C to -25C / 41F to -13F
slushy snow conditions in warm weather
glare ice and hard pack snow in cold
I'm worried that the fleece in other vests will get wet and that the neoprene in this vest will freeze...
Any suggestions? Is this a good product for what I need?
Note: My dog is a Boxer and she's rather small for her breed.

How warm would be too warm for my dog to wear it and not get overheated while wearing it?
Answers
A:Â
Contrary to what most people believe, dogs overheat more quickly than humans do. Also, there are many different factors that may play a part overheating; for example, humidity, size/breed of dog, and type of outdoor activity may affect how quickly a dog overheats. Please consult your dog's veterinarian for the best answer.A:Â
