My Dog is very strong and we needed to train her. My mother never liked Choke chains and said they were mean. After about 5 days of walking My dog minds behaves so much better she responds to her name. I can get her to sit and behave around other dogs.

I have a puppy with a whole lot of energy, and she likes to run forwards when on the leash running, and she needs to learn to heel. With these chains, you put the chain through the loop, so that it tightens when the leash tightens, like a slip knot sort of. When your dog strains on the leash, the chain tightens. My dog is not the brightest, but even she soon learned to heel.
