I was looking for lightweight waterproof hiking shoes. Unlike some of the other Redhead "waterproof" shoes these are actually waterproof. I've had them out in the snow and mud several times now and my feet were dry. I especially appreciate the light weight of the shoes. I am completely satisfied with my purchase. But, I've only had them a couple months.

Bought these at the grand opening of the Raleigh, NC a few weeks ago. Break in was quick, and they are very comfortable and warm, havent really tested the water proofing yet. I did notice tonight though that the soles seem like they may be wearing at a faster rate than expected. I really only wear them on the weekends and for about 2 hrs everyday because I change boots at work.

I bought this boots about a year ago for casual, occasional hikes. The first thing I noticed was that there is no support or stabilization in the sole. When walking on gravel trails you can feel each of the rocks poking up through the sole. Then with the latest ice storm I wore them outside to walk around the neighborhood and when clearing the driveway. Well that was when I realized they are not anywhere close to waterproof. After about 20 mins of walking on the sidewalks that were slightly slushy my feet started getting cold and WET! The water was seeping in from the bottom of the sole as I had not stepped into anything that even remotely passed the sole. When I got home I pulled out the liner and it was sopping wet. I would never buy these again.

I've used a lot of Bass Pro products that I liked. This wasn't one of them. These 'Hikers' had less padding on the sole than any pair of tennis shoes I've ever had. It wasn't apparent until I was on ground that was harder than the carpet in the store. I wore them regularly anyway, for their waterproof properties. A little more than a year after I bought them, they started not being waterproof anymore. If you are looking for shoes to hike in, I'd go with the next level up, at least.
