Rated 5 out of 5Â by 300WSMTXHUNTER Great boot, worn multiple seasons
Where to start? I hunt in rugged terrain in West Texas. I have experienced temperatures from 19 degrees to well over 100. These boots have done well in it all. Cactus, rocks, mesquite thorns, cedar... you name it, these boots have been through it. I have worn these boots at various times for 12-15 hours and no blisters. Granted after that long, it's going to feel good to take any shoes off... but these are so comfortable and durable that they can take the abuse without your feet paying the price. I like these so much that I just bought a pair in all camo for my hunting buddy that I share the lease with as a birthday present. I got tired of him making me go first everytime we were exploring the property in case there were rattlesnakes. I have not had the honor of putting them through a true snake test, but feel it's only a matter of time before that happens. I am going into my third season with these boots and they still look almost brand new with very little wear on the soles. They are the only thing I wear at the ranch no matter what time of year we are there. Will definitely be purchasing again if I ever wear out the ones I have now.

I bought these boots about five years ago thinking I would need them once I started spending more time in the field here in Louisiana, but rarely used them until this year. Accordingly, these boots are barely broken in from actual use and do not have five miles walked in them yet, all in grassy fields here in Louisiana – hardly rough ground. When I got them out this year, the soles literally crumbled as noted in the photo.
Although the rest of the boot appears to be very well made, the soles are some sort of foam rubber covered with a harder rubber you would need a micrometer to measure that has no meaningful shelf life. Could it be WW II jeep tires? Even worse, the boots are so poorly designed, the soles cannot be replaced.
I know these boots are now old but I would have expected more from RedHead and Bass Pro Shops. I was very disappointed to learn their idea of customer service is strictly time contrained. A bad product is a bad product – no longer how long that takes to come to light.

Rated 3 out of 5Â by kodiack Please go back to a heavier zipper
I have had 5 pairs of these boots in the last 8 years.
The overall comfort is excellent. That is why I continue to purchase these boots. However, I still have the first
pair I bought because the zipper use to be larger and
more durable. The boots I have bought since then
have such a smaller zipper and zipper pull they are
harder to pull up and the pull will usually pull off the
first season of hunting, at which point you have to
tie something through the hole to pull up the zipper.
It is a shame such a great pair of boots were cheapened this way.

I absolutely love them! As hot as it gets down here in Georgia during turkey season, and as much as I walk, my feet do not sweat. But they also do not leak any water what so ever. Easy to get on and easy to get off everything about these boots are awesome. But I can not say much about the snake proof ability I hate snakes and don't plan on testing that part out. Thanks Red Head great job.

Excellent boots suitable for cold weather provided you wear an appropriate sock that is rated for the temperatures you will be encountering. I have used these boots in 100 degree heat and temperatures that plunged tp 2 degrees below zero in snow and sleet.
Not insulated and I have worn mine with wool socks in temps close to freezing and was fairly comfortable. I usually only wear mine when the snakes are crawling and switch to insulated boots below 35 degrees.
non-insulated, "if" you can find a pair that fits properly (try in store first) as these boots have a problem getting your feet into for some reason and you may have to buy a larger size than you think??? As to freezing temperatures to 25 deg. I can say no problem for me, I also use a good boot dressing often.
I see where it states these boots are guessted on top with a cinch strap to keep water and debri out, I am looking for a pair of boots that will go over stocking foot chest waders that will not let water in causing a swooshing sound, I will only use them for this reason on an 8 day hunting trip to Alaska. Will these boots work for that purpose, Thanks,
I have used these boots for years and found them to be an excellent boot for most hunting situations. With that being said, these boots are not designed to do what you are asking. You would be better served by using a quality made pair of booted chest waders that ensure no water penetration. Choose carefully so that you are comfortable and provided the stability you seek for a hunt lasting that length of time. Wet and uncomfortable feet can ruin what otherwise would be an amazing experience.
no dont buy these boots the deteriate over time but they do fit tight on the foot and not much debris gets in but water will might not slosh because they are tight
They would but I don't know why you wouldn't just wear boot foot waders? Also are you sure you want chest waders and not thigh highs or waist? Hot, hot, hot if you are walking. Make sure they are breathable at least.
