First of all, if you're wanting a professional looking mount, take your rack to a taxidermist. If you're wanting something cheap that you can do yourself and looks halfway decent, then I'd pick this one. I've done a few with this mount kit and some with a HS mount kit and I like this one better. I like the wood plaque from the HS a little better but to me the Redhead one holds the rack more sturdy and the front cover fits and looks better.

Rated 2 out of 5Â by GameAssassain For your TROPHY SPIKE!!
This is no exception to the saying "you get what you pay for". This mounting kit is made for a spike. I eventually cut some of the styrofoam on the cover to help it fit, and it was just a decent little 8 point. But now that i have it up I guess it doesnt look too bad on the wall.

The kit works well. does not take long to get the antlers mounted. Only problem is that you need to trim the antlers skull very small to account for the small openings and amount of cover material. It will work though!

Finish on the "wood" is very poor. I was expecting a veneer type finish on plywood or solid wood. Instead, this product has a laminate like painted finish on a peice of particle board. I already took a big chip out of the finish on mine when I was mounting the antlers on it. The skull cover is also not near large enough, and I was only mounting a White-Tail rack. Might work on Sika deer. Still very poor material. Would not recomend this product if you are mounting a nice rack. Pay more money for solid wood or make your own. I plan on making my own out of solid oak in the next couple of weeks, this product looks terrible on my wall.

The antlers would have to be connected under the skull cover some how. The cover is just a cover, all that holds it on is 2 tacks. Its not structural support for the antlers. The antlers have to be attached to the board in some way. If you can attach them to a board then you could put them on the mount and use the cove.1 of 1
