I tried to use these on some lures I wanted to change the hooks on, but the split rings were to small for the pliers! If you use big tackle with big hooks and split ring, they work great, but not on the smaller stuff! As far as the pliers part, they work as expected, very well, just like any Rapala product!

Maybe i have an older version but the spring is metal on mine, it works great for getting hooks out. i like the curved tip, didnt think i would. it holds onto hooks better. the handle on mine do turn causing the spring to come out. Other than that, i love these pliers, i do not use the cutters because the Rapala scissors work better.

Cool look with the whole rapala logo and color scheme but the "spring" is plastic which is better than a rusty metal one but still kinda iffy. Also one of the handles turns making the spring pop out of place. The cutter portion is not very good ...has trouble clean cuttin 30# spider wire braid . Finally it started to rust on the bottom inside between handles.
Have been using for about a year and a plus is the length the shape at the tip is nice for grabbing hooks

I've been using these pliers for a while now and I am impressed. Any hook problems has been solved by this tool. Decent quality and construction. I wish they had a longer version.
