"This is by far the best lure for Largemouth bass i have ever used. Just yesterday, I caught 24 pounds in largemouths. The action of this lure imitates a baby largemouth perfectly. The paint stands up to tons of strikes; I've had my Baby Bass color lure for about three weeks and have fished it every day, and it has yet to show any signs of wear. Great lure as a topwater, but even better as a shallow wobbler. I highly recommend this lure, especially the Baby Bass color. Buy this lure and catch some serious fish!"

Rated 5 out of 5Â by fred251 awsome bait
I have almost every one of these various colors and love to fish with all of them. It is a very versatile bait. It can be twitched on top, or jerked to appear to be a crippled shad, or retrieved at a steady pace. I have caught bass, sac a lait, catfish, bream and speckled trout on this bait especially the silver and the shad colored ones. I'll never be without any of them totally, I'll have at least one of these crooked lip shad raps in my tackle box at all times.

I was hesitant in buying this lure at first because it looked hard to vary the retrieve but i was wrong. this lure is amazing! I used it in a creek behind a dam close to where i live and second cast i caught a nice bass. and this was in February!

does the crooked lip on this thing make it have an unusual action? or is the action just the normal side-to-side wiggle?
Answers
A:Â
It has a normal action, nothing weird about it.A:Â
I think the crooked lip just keeps the lure from running too deep and also keeps it from hanging up.A:Â
A steady retrieve will produce the normal side to side action but a pop and pause will get it to do some radical things to include turn 180 degrees. For some reason that drives the fish nuts around here.A:Â
The action is more erratic than the usual side to side. I like to fish it with twitches and jerks. Makes bass crazy.A:Â
Yes I think it does. Buy one it catches fish!!!Images for this Answer

The crooked lip is to make it run shallow, it has the normal actionDetails:Â
I've heard that someone caught a chain pickerel on this, I'm just wondering if anyone could confirm this. (what size and color)?Answers

A:Â
definetly! i would use a silver, gold or a natural color would work. for the length i would go for a 2 and a half in to a 3 inch lure.Top 50 Contributor
A:Â
absolutely - caught lots of pickerel on these here in Massachusetts. The #7 size in silver, gold, or perch works best for me in these waters.Details:Â
crucial question if grass ia, say, 2 feet below the surface.Answers
A:Â
it runs shallow but if the grass is that close to the surface i would advise a top water lure or weedless plastic.A:Â
It's dependent on lure size and retrieve but 2 to 6 feet is normal.Top 10 Contributor

At the speed I retrieve it usually runs about 12-15 inches.A:Â
This lure runs anywhere from 6 - 0 ft. It depends on how far you cast and how fast you retrieve it.Top 1000 Contributor
A:Â
The lure is rated at depths of 4 to 11 feet depending on how fast you retrieve it of course. If you do a twitch and pause retrieve, you can keep it at two feet but if you want to run something around 2 feet at a steady crank, i would recommend some of the Bomber shallow running cranks. They make some that run as shallow as 12inches... I hope this helps... Good fishin!Details:Â
I just want to hear your suggestions for your favorite shallow runners for bass. Mine would probably be the Bandit 100, the Storm Subwart, Rapala Floater, and Rebel Crawfish. I just want to hear your opinion. ThanksAnswers
A:Â
Has to be the Storm Thin Fin and the Rapala Shad Rap hands down.Top 50 Contributor

Mann's Baby -1 Minus is killer for largemouth bass in shallow water. For smallies, I have not found any better crankbait than the Rebel Crawfish(I have mainly fished smallmouth in streams).Top 100 Contributor

My favorite is a Rebel Bumble Bug it will catch loads of bluegill and bass too. Also one of my favorites to use is the Bomber Square A Series. I just started to use the Rapala Shallow Shad Rap and have caught fish with it but haven't used it long enough to consider it a "go to" bait for me.1 of 1
