Rated 4.9 out of 5 by 103 reviewers.
Rated 5 out of 5 by One of the Best Love it, don't know what I can say that no one else has already, just want to joint the crowd loving the shad rap. sro4 is great for stream and lake bank bouncing for smallmouth. Don't know how many I have, but they all are the natural shad color. It is a guarantee if fish are where you are throwing. April 11, 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by Simply amazing. This product works exactly as advertised. I have the dark brown crawdad color, and it is my new go to lure as it works wonders. The first day I had the lure I took it to the local pond, out of the first 10 cast i brought in 3 fish and 2 hits. After the first 1/2 hour of fishing I had caught about 6 or 7 decent bass and a large bluegill. I love how it dives to the depth advertised. The colors on the lure itself are simply beautiful. I am very pleased with this addition to my collection. I only wish it was a little cheaper. Overall I would buy this lure again and may be doing so in the near future. February 3, 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by can't go wrong Another great lure like all rapalas, I seem to get more strikes and prefer the rapala x-rap shad however. The fire tiger color is awesome January 8, 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by Great lure I have caught more fish this year on this little bait than I have any other in past. I got a bunch of different sizes and colors. They performs great, holds fish on, and great action. I can cover the hole water spectrum with these and they do it effectively. April 25, 2012

If you have used the shadrap before this is a new model. They have also added a number 6 as well! I have used the shad rap for years but I dont have the two new sizes yet but I will. Check because alot of places have them including bass pro shops.

Simple answer: NO! This is in no way
the best all around bass lure! The best
all around bass lure would be a soft
plastic bait like a Senko or BPS Sticko
because there are only certain times
of the year that a hard plastic bait
shines. Plus, the Sticko catches much
larger fish.

No. In fact, the DTs have extremely weak bills, so i switched from DTs to Shad Raps. I have had about 6 DTs lips breaK off, and never once with a Shad Rap. I usually bounce this off of rocks and timber, (you are supposed to do this with a square lipped bait but i have found no difference) and i am very pleased with the durability.

They both work well but I prefer the balsa over the plastic version. The balsa "wiggle" seems more natural to me and I've caught more fish on the balsa version but the plastic version is heavier casts further, suspends and has rattles. You really can go wrong with either one, buy 1 of each and see which one works best for you.

If you slap it in the water to get weeds off of it you will break the bill. But in ordinary fishing situations the bill is fine!

I notice you mentioned "you heard the DT's have weak bills". Have you ever had a problem with one? I have never had a problem with any Rapala lip. Maybe if you catch so many big fish it will finally give out, but that is true with anything.

I haven't broken a bill on any of the rapalas. I'm not afraid to cast right at bridge pilings, wood, rip rap, sea walls...nothing. I think the plastic is very durable.
