Awesome Snook Action on the X-Rap!
This lure is by far my favorite for GIANT South Texas Snook! Last night I caught a 33.5 incher and lost four others. In the last month and a half, I have caught and released 22 over sized snook up to 37.5 inches on the X-Rap! Many of these on film! At night, use the dark back colors and the white in the daytime. I use a slow, twitching retrieve with a 50lb clear mono leader (A must). If you use this lure around snook, hold on tight!

Draws the strikes
I love the smaller saltwater version of this lure and when worked correctly outfishes my other plugs hands down. A little experimenting will show you what this lure can do with the right amount of snap to your rod and a small amount of slack in the line.
The larger version however does not have the same erratic action and a less dynamic cutting action than the smaller version which draws strikes from relatively deep water, especially on the pause. This lure is my favorite Rapala product thus far.

Excellent Lure for Striped Bass! I need to buy more of these lures. I can't even tell you the amount of strikes that are made to this lure.

I caught like 10,0000 snook in 2 hours. Wouldn't even thought about using this lure if it wasn't for waldo in Stuart......Thanks waldo.. you're the best!!!!!

If you are a "match the hatch" kind of guy like I am I would go between three patterns.
(1) black back, silver: I really like the contrast, which makes it pretty visible in stained water. I also like the red coloration under the chin that looks like an injured baitfish and I believe this elicits strikes.
(2) Olive Green: Snook love greenies, enough said
(3) Spotted Minnow: I have had great luck with this pattern in the ocean, on the beaches, and in inlets. I find this pattern looks like small spotted trout, a bit like a sea run herring, and enough like a mackerel to do the job. I have not caught snook on this pattern but I have caught stripers, sea trout, jacks, and cudas.
I will be surf fishing on the Pacific coast of Costa Rica in March and am looking for suggestions or tips on lures etc. My experience in fishing is jigging or trolling the lakes of Ontario, so this will be my first time doing this.
