FLR06OPDS
  • Balsa wood construction
  • Flat-sided hard flashing action
  • Triangle lip enhances action
  • Slow-rising response on retrieve
  • VMC® Black Nickel Hooks
At first glance you'll see similarities between the Flat Rap and other members of Rapala's Rap lure family, but then you'll notice the difference in the flat sides and triangle lip. Although the Flat Rap has a few different features from other Rap lures, its strike drawing power is right on par with the rest of the family. Made from balsa with a slow-rising response on retrieve pause, the Flat Rap swims with a hard-flashing modification of the classic Rapala "wounded-minnow" action. The Flat Rap's triangle lip enhances action while letting it deflect of timber, rocks and other obstacles. Each Flat Rap is hand-tuned and tank-tested to ensure it embodies the fish-catching action Rapala is known for.
Rated 4.3 out of 5 by 38 reviewers.
Rated 5 out of 5 by Great Lure I fish northern Thailand for Jungle Perch with this lure, among others. But the Rapala FlatRap series is by far the most effective lure I have for these fish. Often I will catch SnakeHead with the FlatRap also. I NEVER leave home without my Rapala Flat Rap lures. They work with either slow or fast retrieve, February 17, 2014

Rated 5 out of 5 by You'll want a couple of them Flat Rap is one of the best new baits that i have throne in many years ! Try it...you won't be sorry. Worth every cent. One of the great things about the rap is the way you can change the retrieves...bam they knock the dookie out of it!!!! August 6, 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by Flat Rap I've been using the silver flat rap this spring on sunny days, pike can't seem to ignore it ! Super bright flash ! June 1, 2013

A:
I do use the Rapala Flat Rap FLR 8 in brackish or off color water at times with good results. I believe the unique action of this lure results in it being seen or "felt" by the fish.

Not better, just different. On a recent trip the x-rap was better during the middle fo the day when they were tail tugging the dressed trebble hook.

Early and late the flat rap was better.

A:
I found that the Flat Rap is good for situations that call for a finesse/quieter
technique. Take your time workin' that Flat Rap and you'll get results. With the X-rap, I have better luck when the fish are more active/less negative mood. Bottom line for me?.....use both and let the fish tell you what they want.

It draws bites well, but the hooks are too small. Four out of six largemouths I hooked threw this bait. I've switched to SureSet hooks, which should solve that problem.
