This was the first knife given to me by my dad. I now own 5 of these knives for not only filleting but for cutting the 50lb of anchovies we use at the local striper derby.THEY ARE THE BEST!!! Just got the new handle version and love it as much as the original!! fantastic product!! I WILL NEVER PURCHASE A FILLET KNIFE THAT BEARS ANY OTHER NAME!

been using these kinves for over 30 years
these knives will last a very long time if taken care of. i am still using my rapala knives i have had for a long time with no problems. i use them for cleaning fish, fileting my beef in the kitchen (london broil). highly recomend

Great blade, decent handle
The primary reason I prefer these knives over other fillet knives is the top-quality steel they use. The blade holds its edge really well, even under abuse (I use it as a general utility knife in addition to filleting so it ends up cutting stuff it was never designed for). I like the design of a flexible tip combined with a stiffer base near the handle of the blade for more rigid cutting power through bone, etc.
The handle is OK, even though it is wood and not as "grippy" as other materials the shape works well for me personally to provide a secure grip even when wet. The brass reinforcements are nice.

best knife ever
Pound for pound, one of the best fillet knives out there. This knife is and always will be, one of my favorites. Does an awesome job on everything from bluegills to big head carp (yum yum). I've even used theses knives for butchering chickens and skinning hawgs (the oink oink kind, not big bass or bikes). I can and always do recommend this knife to any one. holds a real good edge too.
