I've only owned these boots for a month, but I've worn for at least several hours daily since they arrived, with no visible signs of wear and tear. They are most definitely waterproof (Goretex is *the* stuff) and they've already saved me from one snake bite.
I live on 20 rattlesnake-infested acres of foothills in Central CA, so I bought them more for working on my property than for hunting. It was like walking on egg shells trying to avoid the dam** snakes. Now I can walk with confidence, and can get to places I wouldn't have dared to go before.
As for those who reported premature zipper failure, note that no zipper does well trying to draw both halves together under stress when zipping up. If you lace these up snugly to the top, and then expect the zipper to close under all that load, you are begging for it to fail! (Consider that laces enjoy at least a 2 to 1 mechanical advantage, probably more like 4 to 1.)
The obvious answer is to untie the laces before zipping up, and then use the laces to tighten to fit after. It may take a bit longer this way but even so the zipper still saves you a great deal of time -- you don't have to unlace half the holes (as you would without it,) merely untie and loosen a little, before you zip.
This precaution avoids doing something zippers were never meant to do, and to me, is a small investment of time into the longevity of these boots. (Basically, just common sense, from my perspective.)
I have no doubt that these will last a long time, and I'm very pleased with this purchase.
(** I realize that's the wrong "dam" -- wouldn't it be refreshing if they relaxed the language filters to be at least no more strict than FCC regs?)

Straight out of the box one of them would not zip. The zipper will not align the teeth correctly. These will be returned and not repurchased!

These boots fit great and are not too hot for our deep south weather, easy to get in and out of.

I have had these for 2 years now. I have the worlds worst ankels. I'll roll an ankle stepping off a curb. I probably do it at least once a month. But I have never had a single problem in the woods with these on. I have been up and down river banks, rocky hills, thorny tangle foot, mesqiute thorns and everything else, nothing gets through these and no ankle will roll in these. I am convinced. And I have been in mud puddles that came up to about 3 inches below the tops, feet stayed warm and dry. I fell through an iced river that was, luckily, down to about 10 or 12 inches of water under the ice, no water in miy boots and I stayed comfortable. I have had small copperhead strike at the ankles of the boot while I was still hunting hogs at night, and these held up. These were by far the BEST addition to my hunting/camping gear that I have ever made. If I ever wear these out, I will buy another pair just like them. But I doubt I will wear these out. Two years later and I have not seen any wear on the soles or on the material. Just and all round great product.

No. I have not had that problem. There is an inside gusset.A:
My feet stayed dry. The liner for the zipper doesn't go all the way up though. But I think you'd still be fine in about ten or twelve inches of water.A:
No!!!I stood in a creek just below my knees no leaking at all!!A:
Yes they are water proof but they are not designed for standing in deep puddles or creeks for long periods of time. They are snake boots designed for hunting not fly fishing.A:
no these boots have a V to them with waterproof liner... I've had 2 pairs of lace up snake boots and many pairs of other waterproof boots and they all have leaked.... these haven't gotten wet yet so I bet in time they will all leak...A:
No, these are my favorite boots and as long as you don't go deeper than the goretex lining you'll be fine.Top 250 Contributor
A:
No, the GORE-TEX lining is behind the zipper. This lining goes up to about 2-3 inches from the top of the boot. Where this lining ends the “waterproof” ends though.Answers

Do these boots actually lace as well as zip up the side. I have large calves and need to be able to loosen laces if possible.
Answers
A:
No laces, only zipper.A:
Yes they doA:
Yes, adjustable by letting the laces out.A:
yes, you can loosen laces and still fits comfortableA:
Yes they do. They are perfect for adjusting.A:
NoA:
Yes they do both. just put them with the zipper up then lace to your fit and from then on you can simply use the zipper.A:
Yes they lace and zip, that was the selling point for me as I have big calves as well.A:
Two different styles all together. One with laces no zipper. And one with zipper and a smooth front. I am a big guy and my size 13 fit with just enough room to fit and feel secure and very comfortable.A:
yes be sure to have them not tied & loose when you put them on , zip up tie and go.A:
Yes, the first time you put these boots on you need to have the lase very loose.Slide them on then zip them up. Now tie the shoe lase not to tight but where it is comfortable. From now on all you should have to do is use the zipper. I've never unlase mine from the first time I tied them up. I truly love this boot.Details:
