This has been one of the best purchases I have made recently. These boots are lightweight and surprisingly comfortable. I have issues with a boot top being above my sock and with these being so tall, I was afraid I wouldn't be able to wear them comfortably. I couldn't have been more wrong. When you put these on, it feels more like a shoe than a boot. The laces let you adjust the fit while the side zipper lets you put'em on or tak'em off quickly. I wondered how they could make these waterproof with a zipper. That was simple too. The Goretex liner is behind the zipper. It doesn't go all the way to the top of the boot but, more like a regular pair of boots. I have worn these to dig ginsing in 90 degree weather. They are still comfortable and not too hot. They are definately better than the snake chaps I've worn in the past. Once again Rocky has lived up to my expectations!

Retail price is way to steep.
The sale price was fair, the shipping was high, and the taxes were high, but the boots are light and
comfortable. I'll let you know how waterproof they are
at a later date.

My buddy and I bought these boots on the same day for the same hunting trip. My pair had a bad seem from the factory and split after day 3. However, his pair has no signs of wear or tear after 5 days of non-stop hiking and tracking. That being said; they were very comfortable straight out of the box and they broke in very quickly so I decided to give them another shot with no issues so far. I checked the all the seems when pair 2 arrived and they all looked good so this will be the true test of quality and durability.
We hunt in southern califorina where the temps hit 100 degrees and it is very dry. The few stream crossings and marsh areas we came across were no problem for the gor-tex. We were expecting that a fifteen inch boot would be hot and cumbersome but after 6 hours of hiking in 95 degrees we were suprised that they never got too heavy or hot.
The only complaint that my buddy had was that at the ankle there is a special kind of lace loop that was attached to a rienforcment strap and as the broke in the strap folded in causing some discomfort. He unlaced his boot from this loop and the straps caused no more issue and there was still plenty of ankle suppport.
All in all I believe these are good boots at a good price. I think there will be many comfortable hunting trips to go in them.

My husband only wears Rockies for work and if they are like the standard work boots he said they should be. He said he has been in some deep water in his work boots and not had an issue. Said both zippers are the same on the bootsA:
No. I have not had that problem. There is an inside gusset.A:
My feet stayed dry. The liner for the zipper doesn't go all the way up though. But I think you'd still be fine in about ten or twelve inches of water.A:
No!!!I stood in a creek just below my knees no leaking at all!!A:
Yes they are water proof but they are not designed for standing in deep puddles or creeks for long periods of time. They are snake boots designed for hunting not fly fishing.A:
no these boots have a V to them with waterproof liner... I've had 2 pairs of lace up snake boots and many pairs of other waterproof boots and they all have leaked.... these haven't gotten wet yet so I bet in time they will all leak...A:
No, these are my favorite boots and as long as you don't go deeper than the goretex lining you'll be fine.Top 250 Contributor
A:
No, the GORE-TEX lining is behind the zipper. This lining goes up to about 2-3 inches from the top of the boot. Where this lining ends the “waterproof” ends though.Answers

Do these boots actually lace as well as zip up the side. I have large calves and need to be able to loosen laces if possible.

yes, you can loosen laces and still fits comfortableA:
Yes they do. They are perfect for adjusting.A:
NoA:
Yes they do both. just put them with the zipper up then lace to your fit and from then on you can simply use the zipper.A:
Yes they lace and zip, that was the selling point for me as I have big calves as well.A:
Two different styles all together. One with laces no zipper. And one with zipper and a smooth front. I am a big guy and my size 13 fit with just enough room to fit and feel secure and very comfortable.A:
yes be sure to have them not tied & loose when you put them on , zip up tie and go.A:
Yes, the first time you put these boots on you need to have the lase very loose.Slide them on then zip them up. Now tie the shoe lase not to tight but where it is comfortable. From now on all you should have to do is use the zipper. I've never unlase mine from the first time I tied them up. I truly love this boot.Details:
