Tough Protection This mount and support arm is built like a Tank. I have no worries about loosing my $1500 side imaging 898c GPS Sonar in any boating conditions. Easy to take the mounting plate off for safe inside storage. Plenty of adaptability and no worries of the unit flopping over and getting damaged. May 20, 2010
Missing Parts/ Mounting Options Some of the washers were missing and the package was not sealed all the way but one quick call and they were shipped out pronto. Someone else also said the same thing about missing parts. One thing they dont mention is that the vertical mount can be attached to a pole or round bar because it is designed with a "V" in the back nice touch. Very solid mount works great. Great USA product! September 8, 2012
Perfect Fit I Purchased a Lowrance Elite 7 HDI for my new Tracker boat. The graph was too big to install where the smaller one was. The Ram Mounts Swing Arm Mount Made it easy to Install the new Graph and I can swing it to view from the front of the boat. This was one of my better purchases. April 23, 2013
Nice Product I just purhased this product at my local Foxboro Ma store. The unit installs very easily and is extremely functional. The unit serves it purpose very nicely with the convenience of the swing arm and being made of metal it is also very sturdy. The reason why I am not giving this product 5 stars is because I have a humminbird unit and the mounting plate is too narrow for the humminbird mount and the holes did not line up. I had to drill one hole through the plate so I can have 2 screws fit properly. The other thing is I feel that this product is a bit overpriced. If the price was around $50.00 for the vertical mount which is what I have it would be more reasonable. However this is still a very good useful product and I would recommend it. September 2, 2008

This type of mount works with the large marine electronics not he Elite. Try the Trapezoid Mounting Plate - RAM-B-107-1U item number 38-560-358-00.

I made a plate to mount my Humminbird 698SI to the RAM arm and it works great. I can take the unit off for storage. I got the vertical mount and love the freedom it gives me to move my 698 where I can see it best. It won't fit unless you make your own plate to mount it on the RAM arm. I don't know why they don't make the adapter plate to mount the smaller units but if they do I couldn't find one so I made my own.

I have the same Fish finder i used those plastic straps to mount it to the top securely. The top of the mount doesnt have holes and the thing is made of steel and would take forever to drill holes in it. So a simple solution is to just use those straps once secured you can turn the fishfinder the other way and once mounted the fishfinder is adjustable ,you can turn it to your position.
Fits perfectly on my Porta/Bote

I don't think it would be that tough to remove. You could just unscrew the part of the mount that holds the fish finder from the part of the mount that is on the boat. When I say "unscrew" I mean just turn the knob that you would loosen to allow the fish finder to pivot on the base. Very simple to do and would take minutes.

It should mount up fine. The base plate has many pre-drilled holes. Can't guarantee all will line up but a drill will make short work of it.

A:
You will probably have to drill a new set(4) of holes in your boat for the base, but on the top side there is dozens of holes in the mount for many styles/brands of units.

A:
No vibration properties built in to this mount but it will handle your 1197 with out worries. It is built VERY Stout. The knobs tighten to hold as you want it set even in rough water and the base can be removed very quickly for inside storage of your sonar.
