Lightweight with outstanding performance, Quantum’s Smoke PT Spinning Reels feature an LMS line management system which allows your line to be directed to the line roller more smoothly upon retrieve. While most reels use stock bearings made for other applications, Quantum designed their own high-grade stainless bearings to exact specs to minimize friction and vibration. They reside in a polymer cage for added sensitivity and corrosion protection. Ceramic washers in the PT drag system dissipate heat during long runs. All PT reels have single-piece aluminum frames machined with CNC precision to hold all critical components in perfect alignment. The frame's high-strength, lightweight aluminum won’t flex, even during heavy cranking.

I own both and you really can't go wrong with either. Personally I like the smoke a tad better. It just feels better to me. Plus it just looks good which in turn gives me confidence in it. Both are top notch though. Good luck!

Flurocarbon Lne Capacity

Details:
I am changing a Smoke 25 Spinning reel from Mono to Fluro line. Is the conversion from mono to fluro equal? Specfically, does 8/150 mono equate to 8/150 Fluro?

Thanks

A:
Yes, the conversion is equal as long as the line diameter is the same. If the flouro diameter is smaller, it will take a little more line to fill the spool. Hope this helps.

A:
Basically yes. You may find a difference of 2 thousandth of an inch from one brand to the next of the same pound rating. Any difference,if any at all you will not notice when spooling your reel. I prefer mono over fluro but that's my preference same as I choose braid over either. Cheap mono or fluro is a waste of money so buy as high a quality as you can afford which goes for any line.

St. Croix rods pair well with the smoke as do many others. It just depends mostly on what you are trying to accomplish. My advice would be to go to a store so you can put your hands on as many different rods as possible.

I was thinking about something like the St. Croix mojo Bass rod because i like using tubes and spinner baits. Would that be the right choice?

I think that this really depends on your area of "affordable", as this is a subjective artifact. I would probably suggest to go to the freshwater fishing section of the page and select rods. On the left hand pane of the page, you will see areas that you can narrow down by, including but not limited to price, length, action, species, and customer reviews. I would select a rod in your price range that fits your needs (such as a medium light for finesse worm fishing). I hope that this helps and good fishing!

The smoke rods are designed specifically for the smoke reels.Im extremely happy with my smoke reel.I have the SL30PTI spinning reel spooled with a 12# suffix elite mono.Ive used a few other lines but I like the suffix. Its worth the price also compared to other high end reels.Im not sure about the smoke bait caster though but Im sure its built to the same quality and standards as the spinning reel. I hope this was helpful.Happy fishing!

Yes,this reel in either size will compliment your Smoke rod well. I use PowerPro braid with this reel as with all my others. Braid is my preference. A quality mono like Trilene will work well.

The 25 model is 7.5 ounces and the size 30 model is 7.8 ounces. They will pair well with a carbonlite depending on your rod length.

it is so lite you wonder if it has any beef at all. 7 oz.. strictly lite tackle....maybe good for smallmouth. only had it out twice. very well constructed, initial impression was the drag feels like a cheap reel.I was probably wrong.just used to heavy metal.
