Rated 3 out of 5Â by KansasHumpback Not for the fishing fanatic
I started fishing again after a 12yr hiatus, and wanted something to get started with and having had 2 older quantums that were perfect I decided to stick with it. First day out I dropped it 3 feet into gravel and bail bent. No big deal, but pflueger can but a decent bail at this price range. I fish about 3 to 4 times a week, and after about a month the drag system started to fail, wouldn't stay locked. Two months in and started having major spooling probelms, and handle started to wobble. Due to high kansas winds I was casting into 30-40 mph on a regular basis looking for those saugeye and the reel literally started popping apart. It was great reel, just not meant to be fished heavy. (My pricey Quantum reel from the mid 90's is still perfect)

Rated 5 out of 5Â by Randpage Best Spin Cast I Have
I was truly impressed with this reel, the distance on casting and how easy it is to throw. I paired it with my Berkley Lightning Spin Cast Rod and what a great combo. I am using 14lb Trilene and the reel cast' a good distance and very manageable. I will have to say it out performed my Pflueger 3 to 1.

kinda like you hook a fish and your reeling it in just feels like you can barely turn itAnswers
A:Â
My first two reels did that too, but it is because of defects and I returned them until I got one that retrieved smoothly.A:Â
If you can barely turn the reel then your drag might be set to tight. You will need to adjust the drag on the top of the reel. also, you might need to clean or lube your reel. See the Owner's Manual or take the reel to one of the stores for assistance.Answers

Spool the one that comes with it with braid line and use different types of lines (mono or fluoro) as leaders and you won't need a second spool.A:Â

as a frequent river wader a one piece 5 foot rod is perfect makes those mid-river tie ons easier because you're not struggling to balance a 6 foot rod.. i used to fish a quantum torsion, excellent rod for the money but a little stiff for my taste. as for the cherrywood i own a 5'6 that i use to trout fish, the rod has very little backbone and can be broken easy. i found my match made in heaven when i purchased a 5 foot ugly stick lite pro sensitive for those lighter bites with enough backbone to handle the 5 pound smallies with ease..its all about preference i guess but any good 5 foot rod paired up with a size 10 quantum is moneyTop 250 Contributor
A:Â
i would go with the berkley cherrywood rods. they are good rods at a good price, and if you were to slip while waiding and snap the rod it wouldnt be as big of a deal to reeplace it.Answers

absolutely but you must remember to rinse your reel down thoroughly each time you take it out and oil it every couple months or so.1 of 1
