Kevin VanDam has single-handedly re-popularized the use of spinning gear for pitching grubs. The movement has spread with the advent of dropshotting and shaky head techniques. Truth is, spinning gear is great any time you can use it. This reel is built Kevin’s way, with an ultra-compact ThinLine™ aluminum body, aluminum Long Stroke spool, and Quantum’s unique MAGLOK™ magnetic Continuous Anti-Reverse™ system. The magnetic bail trip, titanium nitrided line roller, hardened gears, smooth seven-bearing system, multi-stack ceramic drag, and machined-aluminum handle round out a great spinning package for any angler.

Line recovery in inches per handle turn.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Perfect This reel is great for anything you throw at it! I've caught Largies, smallies, bluegill, catfish, Carp, you name it. Great All Purpose reel. The only thing is that it doesn't particularly like the house line. Get some real line and its a great deal. June 12, 2012
Rated 5 out of 5 by Great reel This is the second reel that I have purchased and I did so because the first one performed so well!!! The drag system is excellent because of our ultra clear water I use 6 lbs test and have no problem with fish over 5 lbs. May 30, 2012
Rated 4 out of 5 by Just Bought my 2nd one... Really love this reel. Paired it up with the Quantum KVD Signature Series Spinning Rod after they went on sale. Picked up a 6'8 and 7' footer. Threw the 6'8 today with the KVD Signature Spinning reel and when i say SWEET...I mean SWEET! Ordered the 2nd reel today. May 12, 2012
Rated 5 out of 5 by nice reel Used my new reel as soon as I recieved it. Nice quality, casts well. May 7, 2012

A:
I bought a new EXO and discovered you can not back reel it so I called Zebco. Customer service told me they had NO reels in current line that had an on /off anti-reverse.
Thus I would say no back reeling on the KVD either but not personal experience

Although I've never caught a smallie, I'd think this reel in the 20 (which is the smallest size it comes in) would work pretty well.

Difference in reels?

Details:
I was wondering what is the difference between the KVD 20A and KVD 20B Quantum spinning reel? Is this a reel for catching big fish or is it a light weight reel?

A:
If your talking big Bass then this reel is fine. If your talking catfish or other larger species then no. The max drag is 16lbs. As far as the A and B I believe thats just the 1st and 2nd edition of the reel with the newest one being the C model which I have and is a good solid spinning reel.

Details:
Are the Kevin VanDam spinning reels spools interchangeable? I have a KVD20A, can I put a KVD20B spool on it? Are these spools sold separately?
