Corrosive sea water and big, super-aggressive fish spell trouble for ordinary tackle. That's why Quantum's engineers intentionally overbuilt the CaboPT Saltwater Spinning Reels, with an exclusive Saltgard™ 6-layer protective finish, custom polymer/stainless bearings, heat-defeating ceramic drag, and ultra-smooth PT™ gears bathed in Hot Sauce™ lubricant. The goal? Zero chance for failure. Ever.

Rated 4 out of 5Â by Tommygunn Nice reel, a little heavy
I purchased the Cabo 30 from Bass Pro about a year ago. This is one of the better high end reels on the market. My only complaint is that it's a little on the heavy side, but for my type of fishing, it's not too much of a problem since I sight cast most of the time. If your're not blind casting all day long, I would highly recommend this reel!!

Rated 5 out of 5Â by Cody These Reels Are Tanks!!!!!!
I have the the 40pts and the 70pts and saving up for the 20pts. These reels are the most reliable out there. I've used them in salt water for 2 years and rinse after every trip and still no rust or corrosion. I haven't had them lubed since I purchased them. They are so smooth. Even jacks can't withstand this puppys smooth drag.

I bought the 60pts and from the second I removed it form the package I knew I had a great reel. I matched it up to the quantum cabo pt cbis70m rod, for those who prefer the uniform look. I have hauled in snook, snapper, sheepshead, jack and various other inshore saltwater species, even a small hammerhead with no problem. This was my first "high end" reel and I have been nothing but impressed, I guess that is why these things cost what they do. This performs pretty well with "super lines" but I have found the most impressive fishing with "new breed mono."

I have 4 Cabo pt 20's with 10 pound Suffix 832, 2 Cabo pt 30's with 20 pound 832, 2 Cabo pt 40's with 30 pound 832 and 2 Cabo pt 60's with 50 pound 832. 832 is the best braid on the market in my opinion. I have caught many fish in the 20 lb range on the 20's without any problems in open water. Great product I recommend it to anyone serious about good equipment. In fresh water I use Quantum Smoke 150 HPT's with 20 lb 832.Images for this Answer

Dear Bugsmoe,Although it's more than a year ago that you posted your question I would recommend the 7 ft. St. Croix Triump Saltwater.

I would go with the SWC70MHF . Its a medium heavy 7 ft Premiere Saltwater model. I use a similar rod with my CSP50PTs (Medium heavy 6'6" model). I'm basing this on the size of the reel you have and presume you'll be usiing this offshore and not casting tidal or flats.1 of 1
