Corrosive sea water and big, super-aggressive fish spell trouble for ordinary tackle. That's why Quantum engineers intentionally overbuilt the rugged Boca PT Saltwater Spinning Reels, with an exclusive Saltgard™ 6-layer protective finish, custom polymer/stainless bearings, heat-defeating ceramic drags and ultra-smooth PT™ gears bathed in Hot Sauce™ lubricant. The goal? Zero chance for failure. Ever. Includes neoprene reel bag and wrench/knot tool.

Rated 4.1 out of 5 by 35 reviewers.
Rated 1 out of 5 by not worth the money purchased 2 quantum boca's for trip to alabama and had problems with one reel . when you cranked the handle the spool smacked the reel and at times felt like the handle did not want to turn at times.I would not recommend this reel. November 1, 2010
Rated 4 out of 5 by Good reel My son uses these a great deal and is a good reel for the money. If I wasn't such a Shimano user would use them more myself. October 24, 2010
Rated 4 out of 5 by Good Stuff!! So Far So Good. It has been 2 weeks, no big fish yet but drag seems to be smooth and also it appears to be very resistant to salt.(Wife dropped reel in Salt water). Reel still smooth. October 14, 2010
Rated 5 out of 5 by best choice ever i will never change my mind about buying this reel, it is the best in salt water, strong and cast very far, i put it on a my new ugly stick select spinning inshore, it is the best combo it will go with a 40 lb braid line, try it you will love it. October 6, 2010

I know the traditional teachings say that a baitcast reel is better for walking the dog with topwaters (b/c of their high retrieve ratio). BUT, when it comes to walking the dog, is a baitcaster with a 6:2:1 retrieve really that much better than a spinning reel with a 5:2:1 retrieve? I just bought a Boca 40, and I wanna know if it would work for throwing She Dogs, Super Spooks, and/or Super Spook Jrs.

This is a great reel for throwing top water lures. It is also good at throwing spinner baits, jigs, crankbaits, worms, and live bait. Spinning reels are way better then baitcasters. I highly recomend this reel.

I recomend a size 60 reel for offshore fishing, grouper, and wreck fish. I recomend a size 40 reel for sea bass and tile fish. If you use braided line I recomend using 60 pound braided line for the size 60 reel if you go for grouper and wreck fish. If you get the size 40 reel get 10 or 20 pound braided line for sea bass and tile fish.

it depends on how far offshore and the size of the fish you are going for but i would say a 60 or 70 for the grouper and 60 for the rest

This is one of the best reels you can get for red fish and trout. Red fish don't stop fighting and because of this you need a strong reel to catch them. This is the perfect reel for red fish and trout. If you don't like this reel for a strange reason, the Penn Spinfisher or the Phlueger President is the way to go.

This reel would be ideal for redfish or trout. I'd get either a 30 or 40.
