Rated 4 out of 5 by backbreaker great value, long casts
I have used this combo for 3 years now and am pleasantly suprised by the performance. I have the 6'-6" mh rod, not the most sensitive rod or smoothest reel, but very durable. I am rougher on my gear than most people. I use it for topwaters and spinnerbaits and the long casts I can get with it are great for covering lots of water. 2 years ago I stepped up and bought a revo reel and g-loomis rod. It's a great setup, but I felt a little foolish when I realized my bill dance combo could outcast my $350 plus setup by 40 to 50 feet. For what I use the rod for it works great. I would not hesitate to buy another one.

Rated 2 out of 5 by topwaterjoe There is better entry level gear for your money
The MH 7' pole is rated for 3/8oz - 1 oz lures. This was all fine and good since it was bought for pitchin-n-flippin and topwater frogs. The pole performed well until the tip snapped off when fishing heavy cover with 17lb test mono. I believe the pole was rated for 20lb so the line should have snapped before the tip. The reel had issues too. Even casting a lure heavy enough for the pole, using proper form, proper tension, was a guaranteed overrun every time regardless of the seemingly non-existent magnetic brake system.
Two major defects which pretty much defeats the point of owning a baitcast setup.
My suggestion is invest in a $60 Abu Silver Maxx and match it with something like a $60 Berkley lightning rod. It will cost extra, but you will have some decent, proper working entry-level gear you will be happy with.

okay, read some good reviews and some bad reviews. As for my experience with this combo, it's all been good. I like the feel of the IM6 rod, sensitive but gives when needed. The reel is a basic no frills bait caster. No there instructions and as I remember it, I learned to use one of these years ago by trial and error. Isn't that the way we all learned? If you're rod broke, odds are you had a flaw in the blank where it got nicked during shipping either to you or the store. My advice before buying any rod would be to check it over a couple times. Look at the guides, check the blank for anything that might be subject before purchasing it. But for this combo I got it over a year ago and have no complaints. Keep the reel oiled and cleaned every few months and you're good. I fish mine with 15lb powerpro and haven't had any problems.

Rated 4 out of 5 by Rodni Rod & Reel Combo
I like the rod & reel I purchased but I did not receive an instruction sheet/book that illustrates how to adjust the reel for different weight lures.
I will have to learn by ntrial and error which will mean less fishing time while learning the functions.
On the whole I like the reel, smooth casting as long as it does not backlash. I would buy it again.
The rod is one piece 7 foot. I will take a while getting use to the extra lenth as I always used 5 to 6 feet rods for fishing. I will win.

any pros or cons?Answers
A:
I can't see why not. You can put any of the superlines on almost any rod and reel. The key is to make sure you don't set your drag too tight. All I fish is braid now with 3-5ft top shots of mono or floro. Set your drag lighter then normal, there's no stretch and you should have no problems.A:
Placing Berkley FireLine on should not be an issue. We are unable to spool line at our Catalog and Internet division, however, many of the retail stores can for a small fee.Details:

Put a 20lb flourcarbon backing on it, and a 30 lb moss green braid. best bet ot use just straight flouro. If you use straight briad it will just spin on the reel and will continuously birdsnestA:
I use sufix 832, 30# braid. Definately recommend it!A:
Braided line can be used on this reel. It's really dependant on the test that you use on the reel. Most line manufactuerrs will list what the diameter of line is in comparison to a monofilament. You can then use this to judge how many yards of the braid you should be able to palce on your reel.Answers

Also, what is this magnetic casting control. I can not seem to change the casting setting for different lure wieghts?Answers
A:
magnetic cast control, controls the speed at which the reel spins and lets line out. 10 being the slowest use this speed you should use when your learning. and 1 being the fastest. most people use it on a setting of 4-5. As for the cast settings for different lure weights, there is a little round orange dial, you use that to adjust the speed the lure drops. YOu want it to drop at steady drop. You turn the dial back to slow it down and forward to make it drop faster.A:

No. It is a 1 piece rod. If I were you save your money and buy a better rig. Shimano Caenan/Bionic Blade Rod is a nice set up.1 of 1
