Pretty Good Product I've used this product for about six months now and it does what it's supposed to do. I agree with the reviewer about the sloppy play in the steering control. Sometimes I have to move the trolling motor in the direction that I want to go BEFORE I give it power. That usually works. Once the motor is running I can control the direction fairly well (it took some practice, though). The ProControll's mounting bracket was also too wide for the bracket on my jon boat. I had to have it widened by a welder friend of mine. BUT, even with these two negatives, it's still MUCH better than having to stop fishing to control the trolling motor! June 30, 2010
disappointed Product was NG with my trolling motor which is a minnkota traxxis 55sc. The mount on the motor is larger than the mount on the procontroll. I added some wood to clear the motor mount and the procontroll. Once that was done the motor turned maybe a total of 90°. I called up procontroll and they told me that THE PRODUCT IS NOT RECOMMENDED FOR MOTORS OVER 40LB. That is some important information to leave out. I would have never ordered it. With as much as it was stressing out to move the motor the little bit it did, I don't know how good this will work with a slightly smaller motor. With some minor improvements I do think this would be a great product but not as is. July 23, 2010
Works like a champ Sorry to read all the negative reviews. However, mine works like a champ. Yes it does take a little getting used to. For instance, don't try to make a turn at high speed. Let off the pedal, then change directions. Don't expect to get the same reaction as a bow mounted trolling motor. A transom mount is pushing the boat and not pulling as a bow mount does. It was frustrating at first, but it does take a little practice. It won't turn on a dime when trolling at a 5 or 6 on the trolling motor. The optimum speed is probably a 2 or 3, which is perfect going down the bank. I've owned mine since 2009 or 2010 and love it. Mine fits perfectly on my 14 foot Bass Tracker. I use a 40lb BPS Prowler Trolling Motor. This is the perfect combination. At a $119.99, it's a steal!!!! November 21, 2014
procontroll foot pedal i just got mind today and i have to say it seams to me to be very well made .had mind on my boat in seconds and working with no problems.the only thing that i see is on my boat the ribs are so close together that the foot pedal doesnt sit flush to the bottom of the boat so had to make a piece of plywood 8by 12 inchs to put the pedal on it .i have a 55lb thurst minn kota going to a 50 amp circuit breaker with a quick connect wire going to the trolling motor.all in all i think it well last a long time if you take care of it .and remember a bad day fishing is still better than a good day working. Just install it and go! Everything you need comes in the box. I installed mine in about 30 - 45 minutes. I'm not a very electrical person and it took me a couple of times to get the wiring right. But now I can't imagine fishing without it! It's mounted on the front of my 14' jon boat ... with another trolling motor mounted on the back.
