Never used a turkey call before. Its very easy to use and I can make great turkey call right away. Since I bought this I have used mouth calls, slate calls and grenade calls, and this box call is easier to use than all of them.

I've never chalked mine, but I did notice over time it did seem to fade like a regular call that needed chalked, but what I found out is that if I wet my finger and run it across the call surface to moisten it a little, the call comes back to life.
My understanding is the Primos Wet Box should never be chalked. It's friction surfaces are some kind of waterproof stuff that chalk can actually gunk up if the chalk gets wet. I do know my Wet Box has a higher pitch than my other box calls, but it still sounds good to my ears.
