As soon as I received the Primos headlight I put batteries in it and when it was dark went outside. I could not believe how bright the beam was on high power. I have had headlights before but none of them can come close in the brightness of the Primos. The plus is that this light also has a lower power which I can use when going to and from my treestand and also using either the green or red lens built into the light housing. However, the bright beam is just the ticket when tracking a animal. I will not use the attachment included for a hat as it is not sturdy enought but I wouldn't have anyway. I'm not sure about battery life on high power but with the light using AA batteries it will be easy to change them when needed. I will glady give up some battery life for the high powered beam. If I were designing a headlight it would be exactly like the Primos Top Gun. Thanks Primos for designing a headlight that has it all.

Very bright runs long time on battery only light I carry. I hunt oct-jan change batteries twice.Excellent light.

This Headlamp does extremely well and allows the user to be hands free of having to hold a flashlight while doing other tasks.Not only does this light allow the user to climb safer into your hunting stand, but it also serves as a good light for tracking your game as well.

I'm a connisuer of flash lights and especially apprciate headlites for their utility. This is one of if not my best head lite. Very powerful for 2 "AA"'s. Beam could be wider, but u must sacrifice a bit of that for the distance. The lenses may be a bit flimsy, but even if I lost one or both, it's still an excellent lite!!

I believe it is water proof I have had mine in a pouring rain and it was fine but haven't gone under water with it yet.A:Â
Yes...i have used it fro two seasons now and hunted during a few storms...only cause i was too lazy to get out of my stand...lol....so far it has lived up to my expectations and no water damage as of yet so i think i can safely say it is very water proof.Hope this helps!

I was wondering if the bulb was shielded on the bottom. Some headlamps distract your view from the glare of the bulb.

There is nothing worse than a headlamp that blocks your vision due to the lamp being visible to your eyes while being worn. I have found that some headlamps that are flat instead of sticking out blind you because of the glare.Answers

No it doesn't and I would get this head lamp over any others that I have ever used and been using head lamps for deer hunting for 35 years.A:Â
There is really no shield below the lens but i have had no problem with glare. Plus you can angle this light and it holds the angle very well. You can angle it straight down to your feet or well ahead of you. The lamp is n ot visible from your eyes and does not get in the way.A:Â

You can see good for 100 yards easy I have walked up on deer because it is so bright.A:Â
i would say at least a strong 50yardsA:Â
Good question...with it set in the highest setting and using the white lens i can see 75 yards and brite eyes from around 50 yards or so. It also depends on the density of the woods your in. But take a tactical flashlight with a high concentrated beam and thats what you get. The green and red lenses dont shine as far of course because the light has to penetrate the plastic. Green you can see approximately 40 yards with brite eyes showing up about the same. Red gives you about a 20 yard range with brite eys showing at around 25-30 yards. I hardly ever use the white light because it is almost too bright. I use the green and red the most because i feel more stealthy.Using the half power setting you can take all those distance estimates and cut them in half.
Also keep in mind that the green lens has more of a flood light effect and the red lense is more of a spotlight with a thin beam. Red is really only good for working around your treestand or getting your gear together. I use green 98% of the time and white if im lucky enough to be following a blood trail.

...are you asking how far can you actually SEE something with this light on a dark night (...versus, how far will it reflect back from a mirror set about 200 yards down the trail?). I think that it works as described in my experience. Probably further than I would need it to work in most circumstances, which is a good thing.A:Â
