Power Pro Best out there The lake I mainly fish is FULL of grass and lily pads. I haul big fish out of both covers with no problems using Power Pro 50# braid. Best thing going for big fish in tough cover. May 23, 2013
Great line I have used this braid for 2 weeks daily in saltwater and have caught several sharks. This line has not faded, has held up past my expectations and you can cast it great. June 22, 2012
Best Bang For Buck When it comes down to a relatively inexpensive braided line PowerPro is an absolute must. It has proven to be better than all other braids I've used. Not only is the moss green color best for stealthy approaches for me it has proven to be less visible in freshwater lakes than even those "translucent" braids like Berkely Crystal. Another excellent thing about this braid is that it is extremely smooth casting with little to no wind knots and absolutely no line memory like other competitors. Another thing I've noticed is that other braided lines have a wider diameter than the same pound test PowerPro line. Overall it is a great line for fishing bass, pike, and stripers. June 25, 2011
Garbage "I've been using PowerPro for several years and never had a problem. Recently I purchased 500yds of 50# test for a fishing trip. I always test the line before a trip and this time the line kept snapping at only about 18lbs. I called Shimano to ask if they had production issues and to see if I could get a warranty exchange. They asked that I ship my line to them directly. No call tag, and was asked to ship to them on my dime. Let me get this straight, I purchased the line, paid for shipping and now you want me to ship the line back to you??? In the mean time, I have to spend more money to buy another braid for my trip. Thanks but no thanks PowerPro/Shimano. Apparently quality has gone down in the last year." May 19, 2010

A:
firstly, you need stronger braid, if you have a small spinning reel, 30 is fine, but a heaver spinning reel or trolling reel, try 80. As for a leader, 80lb for tarpon and grouper and 40 for snook, but i wouldn't use your tarpon rod for snook.

Hi, For 30 pound braided line, you might go with 4 or 5 feet of fluorocarbon line. Look for a hook depending on the size of your bait and fish spices between 4/0 to 11/0. For snook and tarpon use a 4/0 to 6/0 circle hook and for grouper an 8/0 to 11/0 short shank hook wide gap hook.

A:
All braided line will slip on the spool when tied directly to it. So, to ensure optimal performance, you should always use backing when using braided line.

A:
From our Source 1 fishing expert Keith Sutton,( Superlines require a palomar knot for best results. Put mono backing on your reel before spooling superlines to prevent "slipping" on the reel and to conserve line. This also adds firmness to the spool for better casting and less backlashes. Tie a Uni knot to connect to the mono.)

Line to leader knot easy?

Details:
I fish for huge grouper and sharks over 800 pounds and I usually tie leader to line knots and with my experience it's hard and almost impossible to tie it with braided lines. Is it easy to tie the line to leader knot or not?

Try tying a braid to mono knot like the abright special or yukatan. A palamar to Swivel will also work. Then attach the mono or swivel to the leader

A:
Hi, thank you for your inquiry. Per the manufacturer: There are many effective knots that you can use to join Powerpro braided lines to monofilament or fluorocarbon leaders. However, if you are getting into larger leaders, it can be difficult to tie.

The easiest knot to tie is the uni-to-uni knot. You'll find many videos online about this knot.

Also, your best source of info is to check with your local specialty tackle stores for tackle tips and knot advice. Different techniques work in different regions.

If I read right that reel holds 575yds of 30lb mono. You could run braid 80lbs or above but keep in mind the bigger the the less you have. So if you after big tigers your going to be pushing it but you might do ok with fish 300lbs and less on that set up. Make sure you use a good strong leader and good luck!
