Rated 5 out of 5 by All I use I do a lot of punching and trash fishing and PowerPro braid is all I use. Have tried the others and they just don't compare. Great Stuff!! April 29, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Happy with PowerPro Braid Been using this line in salt and fresh water for a while now in mostly 30 lb test and am very pleased with it. Casts extremely well, very durable. August 30, 2013
Rated 4 out of 5 by Great line This braid is very strong and is very castable. I may try the new super slick next time for heavier line applications. August 21, 2013
Rated 4 out of 5 by Good Strong Braid For those of you who only use mono, the improvement in detecting strikes vs weed fouling and in hook setting when using the braids has to be experienced to be fully appreciated. The down side is that the first generation braids are draggy in the guides, which shortens casts, and the braid throws off horrible tangles (wind knots) on spinning reels. The regular Power Pro is good stuff and better than the first generation braids. If you are using spinning reels, the Power Pro Slick 8 which is a rounder smoother braid mostly avoids these problems even better than the regular Power Pro. It casts better. You still get a few wind knots, even fewer with the reels with oscilations designed to reduce wind knots, like the $80 and up Shimanos. Just returned from a 2 day fishing trip to the Chandeluer Islands, caught everything from Whiting and Trout to Bull Reds, a 7' shark and a 6 foot Stingray, I took 4 rods, two with 12 lb mono, two with 20 lb. Power Pro Slick 8. I will keep the mono on the old reels for my wife to cork fish with, The new reels will be Power Pro Slick 8. The benefits of feel, hook setting, and twice as strong line easily outweigh the occasional wind knot problems August 12, 2013

A:
All braided line will slip on the spool when tied directly to it. So, to ensure optimal performance, you should always use backing when using braided line.

A:
From our Source 1 fishing expert Keith Sutton,( Superlines require a palomar knot for best results. Put mono backing on your reel before spooling superlines to prevent "slipping" on the reel and to conserve line. This also adds firmness to the spool for better casting and less backlashes. Tie a Uni knot to connect to the mono.)

Line to leader knot easy?

Details:
I fish for huge grouper and sharks over 800 pounds and I usually tie leader to line knots and with my experience it's hard and almost impossible to tie it with braided lines. Is it easy to tie the line to leader knot or not?

Try tying a braid to mono knot like the abright special or yukatan. A palamar to Swivel will also work. Then attach the mono or swivel to the leader

A:
Hi, thank you for your inquiry. Per the manufacturer: There are many effective knots that you can use to join Powerpro braided lines to monofilament or fluorocarbon leaders. However, if you are getting into larger leaders, it can be difficult to tie.

The easiest knot to tie is the uni-to-uni knot. You'll find many videos online about this knot.

Also, your best source of info is to check with your local specialty tackle stores for tackle tips and knot advice. Different techniques work in different regions.

A:
If I read right that reel holds 575yds of 30lb mono. You could run braid 80lbs or above but keep in mind the bigger the the less you have. So if you after big tigers your going to be pushing it but you might do ok with fish 300lbs and less on that set up. Make sure you use a good strong leader and good luck!
