Plano® 9606 Tackle Box Love the space and more slots for more baits than I have, guess gotta get more supplies..the snaps are a good quality and strong..Great Box June 10, 2011
Best Tackle Box on market Plano makes the best hard tackle box availible. If you need a box that can hold most all of your tackle, this is the one to get. The trays are divided into different sized compartments allowing one to store tackle in coehisive, organized sections. Remarkably well though out, and Plano provides best customer serice in the USA. So if you break one(sometimes handle separates), contact them before pitching, they will send replacement parts...... March 7, 2012
Greeat Nice box, have two of them one for my pike crank baits and use the other for my walleye plugs. Makes it a lot easier to change plugs then the soft sided boxes, just pop it open and everything is right there without digging through individual plastic boxes like you have to with soft sides. Bottomless beast I love this baby, I've had it for over a year and I still haven't been able to pack it full. I've got a section for bass, a section for muskies, even a tray of panfish lures, I pack my fishing hat, bottled water, spare...everything! and I still have more room. June 16, 2006

It weighs a couple of pounds empty. With all the tackle I have in mine, it now weighs around 20 pounds!

You are probably looking at under 2-pounds if it's empty. Thanks for your interest!

THE BOXES THAT COME WITH IT MEASURE 11 BY 71/2 BY 13/4. ANY SIZE SMALLER CAN'T FALL OUT WHEN THE GATE IS CLOSED.

Are the hinges sturdy?

Details:
Some tackle boxes that I've seen, when fully opened, had very flimsy hinges and seem like they won't be able to last multiple seasons. Just wondering what the quality of the shelves and the hinges were. Thank you!

A:
My last one lasted about 20 years before the first hinge broke. "Jury-rigged" it and used it another 10. Believe if you exercise basic care and don't slam the trays open, you should have no problem getting multiple seasons out of this box.

My Plano is over 20 years old and so far the only thing that broke is the carrying handle when I dropped my trolling motor on it. The hinges are brass pins that last forever!

A:
Absolutely. I hate admitting it but I tend to abuse my equipment while I'm fishing and the hinges are still like new. Simple design, solid pin that runs through the top and bottom hinge. Easily fixable too if needed.

A:
Per Plano the hinges being flimsy is not something they have heard feedback on or had any bad reviews. This is one of their top picks.
