Rated 5 out of 5 Worthy of Consideration
Having owned a Pfleuger President Ultra-Light set-up, I was already impressed with what Pfleuger has to offer. This reel did not disappoint. I've had it out several times on various Tennessee lakes over the winter and it's landed a couple trophies with ease.
The color is a little off-putting, because lets face it, most rods compliment silver moreso than mustard-yellow-gold. But consider this to be the only negative of this fine reel. It's unbelievably light, thanks to its magnesium construction. If you are looking to set-up a lightweight rig, this is the way to go. The drag is probably one of the best and most comprehensive that I've seen on reels of this caliber, making fine-tuning a snap and you can really feel confidence when you are out on the water. It does not back down against any bite. Casts a mile with braid and the retrieves are smooth.
This reel is certainly worth the look if you are wanting to upgrade into something lighter, smoother, and faster.

Rated 1 out of 5Â by Grump I got Pfluegerd ;-(
After a couple of fishing trips, the gears started grinding and the side plate near the handle came apart when I caught a 1 lb. drum. It is under warranty, I have only had it for about a month. I am sending it in. I will update with a new review after the warranty service. Other than that the reel seemed fine. I think the screws holding the side plate have been stripped from the factory. And when the screws finally let loose the gears started grinding. I hope you have better luck than I.

Rated 3 out of 5Â by MaxZmus Supreme 9030 XT Mg
I was very excited to see a revised version of Pflueger's Supreme Mg spinning reel. However, now that I finally own it there isn't much to rave about. In comparison to the original Supreme the XT is a bit heavier because the top of the spool has no porting or dimples drilled into them, add the bigger bail wire(I don't know how this improved anything), and the extra rubber guards around the corrosion resistant ball bearings. Not much of a weight increase but still noticeable. You also get a nice neoprene bag that fits around the reel while mounted on the rod for protection against dings during transport.
My likes: compared to the previous model the only thing I like is the neoprene case. Other than that it's pretty much the same reel in a different color.
Dislikes: My main gripe against these reels is that the line lay on these reels aren't even. I also own a few of the Trion GX-7s and the line lay on those reels are flawless and even. If pflueger can pull it off on the lower end models why not on their TOP of the line stuff? I was hoping this was one of the issues that would be addressed this time around. I know line capacity is debatable as some like having a lot and some realise it's just not practical. I'm on the "nay" side. As I was leaving the launch ramp I was letting line out to straighten any twists or kinks that may have occured during previous trips and thought to myself, there's just no way anyone would ever need that much line. Even if you were fishing in 120ft. deep and hook into a big fish, there's no way it would take out 140-160 yards of line, you would either (A) land the fish while at MOST see about 40-50 yards peel off or (B) the fish would come unbuttoned, or wrap you around structure, ultimately loosing it anyways. Keep in mind this is freshwater. If you're thinking deep sea fishing then a reel this small shouldn't even be considered. Instead of getting an extra spool with less bling and the same line capacity, I would much rather see an extra spool with the same amount of aesthetic appeal and less capacity. oh and lets not forget that line keeper that sticks out and catches your line every now and then, that still has to be fixed from the previous model too.
At $30.00 more and a tiny bit heavier, this time around I only gave the Supreme XT a 3/5 stars because I didn't see any benefits over the regular Supreme Mg.

it is a faster retrieval than most reels. the supreme xt has a 6.2:1 ratio. the smallest model has a 5.2:1 ratio.A:Â
It is not really fast on retrieval. The gear ratio is 6.2:1 which means every time you turn your handle one full time your spool turns 6.2 times. It may feel fast depending on what you had before this reel. It is not really fast, it is a little bit over normal retrieval speed.Details:Â
i was thinking of getting this one while its on sale for smallmouth and sunfish in neighboring rivers and small ponds...it will be this yrs. light line setup for small lures and finnese which is my favorite technique...would the 6730 be a good fit for a 5'6 light rod that would help if you could giv your input while the sale lasts...thanks JohnAnswers

You can use this reel in salt water BUT it is not made for salt water so make sure that you clean the reel off when you are done. if you plan on using it primarily for salt water, i would suggest getting a saltwater reel.Details:Â

yes, if your line is slipping then tie on a mono backer and then the braid.A:Â
I use 15lb power por braid with mine. Works well.A:Â
I use Power Pro braided line on mine and it works fine. Just be sure to use either mono or non-slip tape backing to prevent the line from slipping around the spool should you be fortunate enough to hook a big one.Answers
