I bought two of these reels for bass fishing in New England. I really like these reels. I use them for fresh water bass abd stripers in brackesh water. They hold up nice and feel great. I will not buy another reel......... well until some thing better comes along.

it is a faster retrieval than most reels. the supreme xt has a 6.2:1 ratio. the smallest model has a 5.2:1 ratio.A:Â
It is not really fast on retrieval. The gear ratio is 6.2:1 which means every time you turn your handle one full time your spool turns 6.2 times. It may feel fast depending on what you had before this reel. It is not really fast, it is a little bit over normal retrieval speed.Details:Â
i was thinking of getting this one while its on sale for smallmouth and sunfish in neighboring rivers and small ponds...it will be this yrs. light line setup for small lures and finnese which is my favorite technique...would the 6730 be a good fit for a 5'6 light rod that would help if you could giv your input while the sale lasts...thanks JohnAnswers

This is on sale right now and i really need a good reel to pair up with a rod for saltwater/brackish fishing. I want it for catching stripers no bigger than 30 inches and white perch no bigger than 13 inches....this water is more saltwater than freshwater...specifically if you live in the md area it is fort smallwood state park...which size would you recommend and what size rod 66m or 70m...thanks JohnAnswers

You can use this reel in salt water BUT it is not made for salt water so make sure that you clean the reel off when you are done. if you plan on using it primarily for salt water, i would suggest getting a saltwater reel.Details:Â

A:Â
yes, if your line is slipping then tie on a mono backer and then the braid.A:Â
I use 15lb power por braid with mine. Works well.A:Â
I use Power Pro braided line on mine and it works fine. Just be sure to use either mono or non-slip tape backing to prevent the line from slipping around the spool should you be fortunate enough to hook a big one.Answers
