Rated 5 out of 5 by Awsome I bought two of these reels for bass fishing in New England. I really like these reels. I use them for fresh water bass abd stripers in brackesh water. They hold up nice and feel great. I will not buy another reel......... well until some thing better comes along. February 24, 2010

if you are fishing very clear water and want your bait or lure to sink more then use floro. if you want a more sensitive line that casts farther and plan on fishing in water with less visibility then use braided

it is a faster retrieval than most reels. the supreme xt has a 6.2:1 ratio. the smallest model has a 5.2:1 ratio.

A:
It is not really fast on retrieval. The gear ratio is 6.2:1 which means every time you turn your handle one full time your spool turns 6.2 times. It may feel fast depending on what you had before this reel. It is not really fast, it is a little bit over normal retrieval speed.

Details:
i was thinking of getting this one while its on sale for smallmouth and sunfish in neighboring rivers and small ponds...it will be this yrs. light line setup for small lures and finnese which is my favorite technique...would the 6730 be a good fit for a 5'6 light rod that would help if you could giv your input while the sale lasts...thanks John

that would work pretty well, very light and a good size for a shorter rod. i have the 6735 for my light bass rod and it works great! what a fantastic reel.

You can use this reel in salt water BUT it is not made for salt water so make sure that you clean the reel off when you are done. if you plan on using it primarily for salt water, i would suggest getting a saltwater reel.

A:
I use Power Pro braided line on mine and it works fine. Just be sure to use either mono or non-slip tape backing to prevent the line from slipping around the spool should you be fortunate enough to hook a big one.
