I own 2 Patriarch Reels and bought the President LP Reel for flipping and pitching. Hands down the finest reel I ever owned.

This is my first Pflueger baitcasting reel and I'm impressed. I'm generally a Shimano fan but decided to try something different this time. I probably own 25 baitcasting reels currently and use them for largemouth fishing as well as snook, reds, trout etc. This reel will be used in freshwater for bass and it reels smoothly, has good cast control, and the drag is also smooth. I've used it twice now and caught several bass using crankbaits and spinnerbaits. The reel couldn't have preformed better and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend it highly to others considering a reel in this price range. Actually after using this reel I would have guessed a considerably higher price. Hope and expect the reel's durability to be as good as the numerous Pflueger sinning reels I've used for years.

I bought one of these last season. I'm very pleased with it's smoothness, and easy too adjust. Can't find anything to say bad, so far it's been a great reel. I have used braid, and mono line with a number of different lures without any problems. If i need another reel, the only reason i would not get another one would be i want to try something different.

this reel is amazing. all kinds of adjustment so you can make it cast for you. i have the older president and have had it for years. its just plain stout and a great reel.

Both are good reels, you can't go wrong with either one. While in the store, try each on the type rod you intend to mount it on and see which one feels the best.

My husband and I both use spinning u use on our rods when we fish. I would like to know if spinning reels can be used to Musky fish with or does it definately have to be a baitcaster reel. My is the Shimano Sedonna spinning reel and my husband is the Daiwai Spinning reel.Answers

You can use them but it's kind of like taking a knife to a gun fight in my opinion.

Spinning reels for musky are fine as long as they have the capability of handling heavy enough mono or braid and are pared with a rod with enough backbone. If you are to be casting large plugs for musky the baitcasting reels will perform better since they will not work you as hard as using spinning reels for this purpose.Details:Â
