I want a multi species reel

Details:
what size reel do you suggest if using for 2 to 12lb fish. I'm thinking 7' to 9' light to med light rod to cover all bases. I'm replacing a cheap Diawa on a7' light action rod i'm kinda partial to.

35 or 40 should do it. If you catch more of the 7 to 12 lb fish, I recomend the size 40, but if you catch more of the 2 to 6 lb. with the occasional 7-12 pounders then the 35 should be enough.

It's a pretty hard question to answer but I have a suggestion that may help you get an idea. if you have some fishing reels around the house look at the model # and then look it up on line. see what the weight is. (usually in ounces). If you can make it to your local bait and tackle fishing store or the fishing department at a department store, you will usually find the weight of a reel on the packaging. The more reels and packaging info you look at, the better idea you will have of how big or small the reels are. I hope that helps

A:
Of the model types '6900', 6920 is the smallest. As the number gets bigger (6920, 6925, 6930...) so does the reel. Look at the specs of the different models, there are a few things that will tell you the size: Reel weight is displayed, that will give you a rough idea of the size. 'Line recovery' in the specs just means how much line in inches is picked up with every 1 turn of the reel. The more line recovery, the bigger the diameter of the spool. Hope that helps :)

A:
The only way is to look at how much the reel ways I have the 6925 & the 6920 I have Bass Pro microlite fiberglass UL rods 1-6ft & 1-7.5 these are the best combo it also depends what test line you want to use

Well, you can't really. The 6920 is the smallest UL reel. Every increasing number gets bigger and holds more line. I would say the first 2 are for trout/crappie. The 6930/35/40 are for bass and such and the largest size(s) are for anything bigger.

A:
If you are fishing lures try using a barrel or snap swivel. If the lure twists in the water it will make your line twist and the end result will be a birdsnest. Or once you have reeled in let your line untwist itself before you make another cast. This should eliminate your problem

A:
I'm assuming you're using monofilament line on the reel if you're getting birdnests - I own this same reel and only spool braided line on it, since there is no memory in braided line it never twists up or gets tangled :) However, if you want to stick to a clear line, use flourocarbon. Flourocarbon is much much stronger than monofilament, has much less line memory (so it will twist a lot less), it's much more invisible to the fish, and the diameter is smaller. 12 lb test flourocarbon is about the same size as 8 lb test monofilament. Make the investment! You'll never go back! Hope this helps

I sounds like there may be to much line on your reel. I had that problem with one of my reels and I took it into the Bassproshops that is near my house and the guy told me that I had to much line on my reel and he took some of it off and I have not had any problems since then.

It may have bee twisted when you put it on. Try to re-spool it professionally if you did it yourself.

one thing you can do if u already haven't is buy a new spool of line so it has less memory. Also try to manually close the bail lever before you start reeling in
