Works best if you own a circular piece of property and have a plug in the middle of your house with no large appliances near it.
Unfortunately, my home and property do not fit this criteria, so it went back. I am truly disappointed.

I purchase this wireless fence system because it is quick and easy to install. Just plug it in and your ready to go. I had one before and loved it. With my dog I have to use the highest setting to keep him in. Once they learn they can ignore the lower settings they can get out. On the highest he doesn't try it, once was enough. I have bluetick hounds who are renowned for pain tolerance as well as being hard headed and this keeps them in my yard!

I bought this unit about a year ago and it has worked great. I have used it in multiple sites and our dog has not left the the yard. If he sees the flags he realizes that this his area to roam in and not to wander outside this zone.
Two draw backs, one the collar did not last very long and I had to replace it twice. Secondly, if you have an odd shaped yard this could limit the roaming space for the dog. I have a pie shaped yard and if I extend the system all the way out he can get to the neighbors yard and I don't want that.

hands down the simplest and most effective way to keep your dog in your yard and out of the road. have had this system for about 2 years and my jack russell wont even think about leaving. collar seems to get decent battery life

Yes, you can reduce the range. Per the Owner’s Manual if your range is 5-10 ft use boundary control dial position 1 and switch to low. Place the Boundary Switch on “Low” if the Boundary Zone will be less than 45 feet from the Transmitter.Manual: http://www.petsafe.net/getattachmen...
