These PENN Spinfisher V Live Liner Spinning Reels sport the added benefit of a Live Liner drag which makes them ideal for swimming live baits. The PENN Live Liner drag can be adjusted to control the drag tension, allowing anglers to fish various sized baits and maintain control over the bait, an essential factor when live-lining for various gamefish. Building on the legacy of the PENN Spinfisher, the Spinfisher V Live Liner Spinning Reels boast a full metal body, sideplate and rotor plus a water-tight design that keeps saltwater out. For rugged durability, the Spinfisher V's main shaft is stainless steel, as is its oversized bail wire. Line capacity rings on the Spinfisher V are a first for spinning reels. This reel is suited to inshore, nearshore, offshore and surf angling. Or, in short, everything saltwater!

Rated 1 out of 5 by bill2233 very dissapointed
I bought the 6500. Used this reel once, and it worked. the second time I used the reel, I used the line lever for the first time and the whole thing locked up. It broke pretty easily, I didn't even have a fish on, just let my bait go at the beach. Pretty disappointing to see others having the same problem.

I love Penns. I have always stranded by their product. Except for this one. I was at the pier when i noticed my 6500LL flew into the corner and almost went into the water. A tarpon had hit my thread and the level liner locked up on the reel :/ It gets worse. As i first setup on the tarpon (About 120#'s) The actual drag had locked up on the reel! i tried everything. Amazingly somehow i got the tarpon in. Afterwards checked reel still full of grease (only used it twice) I am ashamed of this Penn product compared to the old spin fisher. I love the look and feel but i feel as if it was cheaply made.

Used twice and second time live line drag doesn't work. Not happy. Penn should have way better tested this reel series before going into production.
