Inshore anglers who love to use live bait will certainly want to get their hands on the latest addition to Penn's popular Slammer series reels, the Slammer Live Liner. In addition to having the same top-quality features as the original Slammer series reels, the Slammer Live Liner Reels feature a secondary rear drag and automatic engaging live-lining trip. This allows anglers to rapidly move from the live bait rear drag to the oversized and powerful front fighting drag with a simple spin of the handle. Plus, the Slammer Live Liner Reels are complete with oversized, shielded HT-100 drag washers for smooth, consistent and dependable drag performance; five shielded stainless steel ball bearings (760L has six bearings); infinite anti-reverse; Techno-balanced™ rotor eliminates rotor wobble and improves performance; Penn Leveline® wrap system provides consistent line lay regardless of retrieve speed or type of line; machined, anodized aluminum handle with soft touch knob.

Line recovery in inches per handle turn.

Rated 4.6 out of 5 by 10 reviewers.
Rated 5 out of 5 by Great Reel! Penn has outdone themselves with this reel. I fish Shimano Bait Runners as well and the smotthness, power, quick release, and drag are far superior in this fishermans opinion. April 29, 2010
Rated 5 out of 5 by Super Reel I bought the 760 Live Liner and it is certainly built the way I would expect a Penn reel to be - tough as nails - I fish spinners left handed and easily was able to unscrew the handle from the left to the right side... It is big, but I will be <hopefuly> pulling on 40 lb + dorado and tuna in the sea of cotez, I need the extra torque... I paired this reel with a Shakespeare Ugly Stik Big Water Spinning Rod Heavy and even the colors match! Stong, good looking addition to my arsenal... April 6, 2010

Yes, it is similiar to a bait clicker except you can adjust the amount of pressure applied to the baitclicker option. Great for using in strong tides.

A:
i have had a shimano bait runner for over seven years and is in great working condition and have owned a penn live liner for about 6 and purchased the new one recently the bait runner still works fine and same with the Penn. For fishing of a boat i would buy a Penn slammer live liner but off the surf i would buy a Bait runner because it has water proof drag. They compare similar but the Penn live liner has more fighting power than the bait runner.

to be honest i would stick with the shimano cuz you have a better drag system on the shimano but i think the penn will last longer it just matters on what your fishing for if it is a fish that will some the penn i would deff go with the shimano
