dont waste your money on the 8000 combo buy the reel for 79.99 and a power plus rod for 25.99 the reel is great we have used them for years the rod is useless unless you are catching 20lb or smaller fish
they give no hastle replacing them but they will break everytime out snagging if you catch anything bigger than 20lbs

I bought this for my birthday in July 2012. I used it maybe a dozen times and it preformed wonderful. Good smooth reel. The rod was good to. Until my brother-in-law this weekend got caught on a rock and yanked on it pretty good. I wouldn't think it would break under the stress he put it under but it snapped into 4 pieces. I did have 80lb braided line with a 15lb dia. I blame half operator error but the other half on a not well made product. All in all I'm going to buy another because it worked good ,but I wont be yanking on it. Or letting him borrow my rod again.

I bought the 50 size reel that comes with a 7 foot "medium" action rod. That would be medium for Andre the Giant I guess. Rod is just a little better than a broomstick. I mean it is stiff. When you buy the combo you're paying about $20 for the rod and that's what it is worth...maybe.
I'll save up and get a nice rod to go with the reel which is really nice.
Maybe I'll use this rod to troll for anchors.

This rod features one thing - stiffness. And no feel. OK, that's two things. Seriously this rod is way too stiff for feeling anything less than a boat hitting your lure.A:

Bass Pro said they would put mono on it for free. I bought braid and they put it on for me instead. I heard the purchase is suppose to be over 100 for free line though. Not 100% sure on that and even if that is the case. I don't think they enforce that.A:
