The Battle is a 5.6:1 with 37 in line recovery with 7BB (6BB;1RB) 220/15 lb test. This reel is 20.3 oz all metal reel.
My $0.02 is to spool with 20-30# braid or 16-20# mono depending on the rods specifications.
Unless you plan on targeting med/lrg sharks/rays then anything over 30# is just overkill and cost too much money.
Kind regards, Capt. Mike
I fish with 10-15lb sufix or ohero braid, colors green, ghost(white) or ohero blue with a 5ft flurocarbon leader depending on the rod length which helps around spooky fish. Just try to avoid having the knot above the last couple of eyes on the rod when reeled in completely.
Happy trails, Capt. Mike
Tie a Bimini Twist in the braid and attach the leader to the double line make the leader about eight foot long. Make sure you leave room on the reel for the leader on the reel. snell your gook if you are using dead bait and tie a loop knot if you are using live bait. If you want to sight fish, use tube lures or cast a full ballyhoo with the wire leader pulled through the back hole to the mouth with the hook point inlined straight, use a snap swivel if doing this, of you do not have to re-tie every time you get a bight. Make lots of rigs before you go fishing so you do not waist anytime fishing.
However if you immediately soak them with WD40 or something along those lines they will hold up until your next service.
Open it up and coat all internal surfaces/parts with a light layer of grease.
