Penn Mariner Boat Rods are all-purpose power-poles for appropriate for a range of nearshore and offshore fishing techniques. The solid fiberglass blank is as strong as it gets, with less weight than other solid blanks due to innovative new manufacturing techniques. Rated 5 out of 5 by Penn 309 Combo This is perfect for wall fishing in Port Huron, MI where we use 2 lb. weights to hold the current in the St Clair River. Stiff enough rod for those big kings or whatever else comes along. The only thing you have to be careful with is the ceramic lined eyes. If you are using a stopper, be careful not to reel hard against the tip or you may break out the ceramic eyelet. Wound with 40 lb. test, I am ready for the big boys! Couldn't pass up the limited time free shipping. May 30, 2013
