A sturdy vise with features comparable to those in the $200-250 range, the Peak® Rotary Vise includes a 6" x 6" x 1/2" stand-alone pedestal base constructed of white, powder-coated steel. This base provides a stable work platform and features a convenient, rounded-edge pocket for beads and hooks. Its non-reflective white coat provides good contrast, making small hooks and beads easy to see without straining your eyes.

The Peak Rotary Vice has a positive-stop cam action that allows repeatable gripping from the first fly to the last. Its hardened jaws can hold hooks ranging from a 2/0 streamer hook to a #24 midge. Additional features include an adjustable height and length bobbin rest, a quick-change jaw and an adjustable friction knob. Optional Peak Saltwater Jaws are available for hook sizes up to 6/0.

Peak Vise I researched several vises, and chose Peak due to size and stability. By far, this is the easiest vise I ever used. Plenty of room for big fingers, holds hooks better than any other I have tried. I have had the opportunity to tie with several higher priced products and prefer the Peak hands down. February 12, 2011
Peak Rotary Vise with Pedestal Base Great Vise. Holds hooks securely without allowing the hook to shift position. True rotary vise allows the ability to work 360 degrees around the fly as it is being worked on. A true pleasure to tie flies on. April 26, 2012
Great vice Great vice, holds even size 20 hooks with out any issue. Very heavy and stable base that allow for very easy use. The swiveling jaws allows for easy tying of things like muddlers and the like. October 18, 2012
Very Good, but could be better The vise is very well made. And I am happy that it is made in America. However, for the price, it would have been nice if the thumbscrews came in brass instead of plastic. June 26, 2012

A:
It depends on if you get the C-clamp or pedestal. The pedestal base adds like 3 pounds to the overall weight of the vise whereas the C-clamp only adds like a half a pound.
