  • Graphite frame and sideplates
  • Bronze main and stainless pinion gears
  • HT-100 Versa-Drag system
  • 2+1 shielded stainless bearing system
  • Instant anti-reverse
  • Forged aluminum spool with line capacity rings
The PENN Squall is the evolution of the legendary PENN GT levelwind reels. The lightweight yet super-strong reinforced graphite frame and sideplates house bronze main gears and stainless steel pinion gears, all made smooth by a 2+1 stainless steel bearing system. The instant anti-reverse bearing is backed up by a silent ratchet system, and the forged aluminum spool is etched with line capacity rings so you can know how much (or how little) line is left on the spool. And finally, the HT-100 Versa-Drag system exerts smooth pressure on big fish, helping you manage every fight.

Striper fishing 20LWLH Purchased this reel for striper fishing. It works great. The action is smooth and operates as desired. I moved the lever out to the second position for my son to give him a little more power and he loves it. The large handle is great also. July 13, 2014
Great reel I purchased this reel for tile fishing anywhere from 300 to 800+ feet of water. The smoothness of the reel is great. The hugh handle makes it easier to wind and helps prevent blisters from forming. The large capacity of line makes any depth reachable March 12, 2014
best real i have bought yet i have one and love it helps catch more fish never missed a bite on it yet..would highly recommended it for the serious fisherman, operation on this real is great. January 10, 2014

I would not recommend casting with this reel. you won't cast more than 5' and you will get lots of back lashes. something like this is more adequate-http://www.basspro.com/PENN-Torque-Star-Drag-Reels/product/10229181/

The exploded view of the reel shows a clicking ratchet. A review on the manufacture’s site also states a load clicker.

Squall SQL20lwlh

Details:
Hi. Just had a question about the Penn Squall sql20lwlh. I do some surf fishing in Florida and in the market for a new reel. I'm left handed and looking for a baitcasting/ castable reel. I was wondering if the sql20lwlh would be a reel that I would be able to use as a casting reel in the surf. Thanks again
