One of the most recognized and accomplished saltwater spinning reels in the world, the PENN® Spinfisher® is a real workhorse, and the bail-less model is great for surf-casting. The PENN Spinfisher V builds on that legacy with a full metal body, sideplate and rotor plus a water-tight design that keeps saltwater out. Anglers will approve of this reel’s sealed HT-100 Slammer Drag System. For rugged durability, the Spinfisher V’s main shaft is stainless steel. Line capacity rings on the Spinfisher V are a first for spinning reels, and it moves smoothly on 5 shielded stainless steel bearings.

Workhorses of Fishing I purchased the 4500LL to pair with my PENN 7'0" Battalion and the 6500LL to pair up with my Penn 7'0" Power Stick. Both reels paired up nicely, even weight distribution and cast like a dream. On the 4500LL, I use Magibraid 30# braid and on the 6500LL, I use Magibraid 50# braid. I don't see how anyone had a problem with these reels. Both of mine are powerhouses. I have pulled up 6 pound drums and 3 to 5 pound Chavelle Jacks with the 4500LL without a hitch. With the 6500LL Chavelle Jacks from 4 to 10 pounds. Both reels have a live liner runner(bait runner) and I used them all the time without a problem. No locking up. No gears stripping or slipping reels. These reels are 2 of the best reels I own and would highly recommend for those who want reliability, dependability and power to bring in the fighters February 17, 2015
Solid Build I bought the 6500LL a short time ago. I took it straight to Ocean City Md and fished the surf for three days. Landed several Sea Trout, a few Ray,s and one Sand Tiger Shark which was about 5 foot. This reel is the bomb, the line lay is tight and even across the spool, the drag is awesome and there is absolutely no wobble in the handle or any other area of this reel, " that drives me nuts ". Casting 100 yards plus is a walk in the park. This is now my new favorite reel. Paired it with a Penn Torque 10' rod and spooled it with 30lb Diamond Braid. Love the live liner feature as well, it deactivates much easier than on some of my other reels. July 31, 2014
The badest reel of my arsenal Is this reel works fine : Yes. Is it good quality ? Definitly not. I purchased a Spinfisher V4500. You can feel each tooth of the gear when retrieving. At the beginning I did not believe in it and after a couple of weeks, I sent it back to Penn. They change it and it's the same song. For cast and retrieve, you can't feel you lure, you feel the gear. The gear is ten time as hard as my Slammer or Battle. I use it dayly a month, braking time or not, it's the same. The feeling of the gear are worse than a 20 $ Daiwa sweepfire. It seems that it becomes a habit that manufacturer make us regret the former models like Slammer. I really do not understand how people can recommend this reel. September 28, 2014
Powerful Tool I just recommend this reel to anyone who loves using light tackle to catch big fish. The weight of round about 380g sounds heavy, but you can fish this machine all day long. And a machine it is. The break is so powerful but with the lightliest feedback. It is running as soft slowing down a 1m+ fish as it does with 30 cm bass. It's just amazing. December 19, 2014

A:
It has no wire bail that will bend or break, if you look closer at the reel it still has the guide part of the bail.

Staff Answer
A:
The Spinfisher V still has the bail roller mounted on the rotor. The bail wire that is eliminated only serves as a guide to manage the line to the roller. With the bail wire absent the angler must manually put the line on the bail roller to retrieve the line. The positive to have the bail wire not present is that you will never have the bail close during the cast.
