PENN Fathom Levelwind Conventional Reels
Tough as nails!
My brother and I bought the 60 series reel back in March of 2013 and have used it for fishing in Savannah, GA. We fish for the fight and have found that this reel is tough enough for the sharks and stingrays that we love to battle with. When it comes to fishing, bigger is better!

Penn did it right with this reel. I have caught everything from 1lb rock fish to a 99lb bluefin tuna on this reel. I have the Fathom 20 level wind set up on the Penn Bluewater carnage 6'6" 30-80 lb rod and I love it.I am able to power in tuna and Dorado off of San Diego and northern baja. Then go in shore and fish the kelp beds for bass, rock fish, ling cod, halibut. My only complaint is that I want one with a higher gear ratio, I would really like to see the Fathom level wind in a 6:1 or higher ratio for throwing Irons and other faster retrieve lures.as for casting the Fathom level wind casts awesome. It casts just as good as a non level wind, smoothe long casts. The drag system is no joke. For a smaller reel such as the Fathom 20 level wind I was amazed at how powerful and extremely smooth the drag is. I have caught small fish and big fish with it and it handles every fish the same, with ease..I highly recommend the Penn Fathom line to anyone looking for a solid all around reel.

Can't go wrong reel
I own both the 60lw and 20lw models. Both reels have been excellent. I use the 60 for deep sea fishing and it is a great reel to haul up those cod/haddoc/pollock from 200+ feet of water - great cranking power and is very smooth. I use the 20 for striper fishing and landed two 30 inch stripers on the first day I used it. The 30 lbs of drag made it easy to fight these fish to the boat. Excellent reels with great cranking power and drag. Also very light considering an all metal construction.

Got this reel 5 days ago. Put about 450 yards 100lb PowerPro on it and matched it with a Penn Mariner 5 1/2 30-80 rod. I went out to the Keys and landed a 6 foot bull shark with ease. Its got real cranking power and with 30lbs of drag you cant go wrong. It performed flawlessly. Great reel for the money. I highly recommend this to other people.
