PENN Conflict Spinning Reels
I bought this 2500 Conflict March 2014 and it
Is really a great little reel. I use this mainly for inshore fishing and I have been amazed at its durability and how well it casts. On an October trip to Louisiana I caught at least 7 redfish weighing more than 20 lbs and 1 40 + and it handled them all very well. No drag issues, Haven't had a wind knot. Or any glitch what so ever. I have caught hundreds of reds and trout on this little reel and have no complaint...... Not one!

I have owned my penn conflict for about a year now and I can't be any more amazed at the power of this reel. I have the 3000 size and spooled with power pro and it has caught a variety of species in both fresh and saltwater. I've caught 10lb largemouths to snook and black drum. All in all this reel is probebly one of my favorite light spinning reels do to it being incredibly lightweight and comfortable handle. I will most likely be buying more conflicts in a variety of sizes soon as well

This is a great all strong reel but the paint chips off very easy & instead of a roller bearing it's a bushing but I wonder can I get that changed

"Conflict" An Appropriate Name for this Reel!
Recently purchased this reel for my custom built 9'6" spinning rod, to be used primarily for casting hard plastic divers and top water plugs as well as heavy soft plastics into the surf for European Sea Bass. Initial impression was positive, looks nice and feels very smooth. Started the spooling process, by backing the reel with 20 pound spiderwire and topping it off with 200 meters of Duel Hardcore X4, 1.5pe (25 lb breaking strain). I quickly became discouraged with the line lay. Large gaps formed at both the front and rear of the spool. I have been using this same line on another spinning reel (competitor) and absolutely love it...It's the best braided line I have ever used. For the price I paid, I would have expected a much higher level of attention paid to ensuring even distribution of line from the front to the rear of the spool. Quite appropriately named, as I'm having my own ongoing "conflict" with this reel. Might relegate the reel to drift jigging, or just sell it...not impressed.
