When looking for a Rod and Reel combo for Spoonbill (paddlefish) you will want to select at least a Ten-foot rods designed for fishing in the ocean are a good choice. Match them with reels that can hold at least 200 yards of 30-pound test monofilament line. Therefore, this would be a good set up.

Answer to your question is any fish can be caught on any type tackle, depending on the skill and experience of the fisherman. Yiour rod and reel combo can handle any STRIPER or sturgeon as long as you know how to fight a big fish should the fish gods smile upon you and hand you a trophy fish. Good Luck my friend and TIGHT LINES!

Basically what I want to know is would this combo be suitable for some gulf stream bottomfishing, im considering buying my own set up after my last poor experience with the gear on a headboat. Looking for a rod with good sensitivity to feel the smaller grunts and ringtails but powerful enough to bring the grouper out of the rocks. Thanks
