Straight out of the package these hooks are extremely sharp and strong. I have recently been using straight shank hooks for punching thick vegetation for largemouths and these hooks are the best in the business. My hookup ratio has definitely improved since I began to use these hooks.

I think the Owner® Straight Shank Wide Gap 3X Worm Hook is the best flipping, and piching hook out there. I have used other heavy cover hooks that have plastic, or wire keepers near the eye of the hook, and don't like them. I have found hooks with those types of keepers tear up soft plastics a lot more than this hook. I also like this hook becaue it is super sharp. If you need a hook for fishing heavy cover I would check this one out. I'm glad I did.

I use these hooks for wacky worm fishing and they do a very good job at hooking and keeping the fish hooked up. I haven't lost a fish on them yet.
