I recently purchased some of these to replace some of the hooks on crankbaits. I was disappointed that I actually had to sharpen some of these hooks. With Gamakatsu you never have to worry about sharpening hooks.

Read in a article online that by replacing the hooks on the Boy Howdy with Stinger-36 Trebles you could reduce the number of misses when using this top water bait. It is true, especially when fishing at night. This is a deadly bait for top water with the larger hooks.

These hooks are not only sharp but the red seems to be just the right shade to imitate a blood trail. I will only use the red on the front and use the black on the back of my crankbaits. They stay sharp a long time. I carry extras in my tackle box and replace them only when the red is wearing off.
