The knives are great (although I prefer my Outdoor Edge Flip-Blaze knife with the zipper blade to the gut-hook for gutting all animals and for field-dressing deer).
The handles are TERRIFIC! The soft-touch textured grip is easy to hold & doesn't get slippery even when covered with blood.
The Sheath however is the downside of this set. It weighs WAY TOO MUCH! If this set was offered with a lightweight nylon sheath I would have paid extra to get it — and may pay to have one made. Manufacturer even suggests carrying the set in your day-pack as it's A LOT to have swinging off your belt. On my next elk hunt the knives may well be in my day-pack, but the sheath will not be — it's too heavy for a mountain hunt.
I bought the set largely for the skinner. I was very pleased with it but also pleased with the great caping knife & handy T-handle saw. This is a nice saw but I would NOT want to quarter a large animal with it. It's way too small for that duty. It will split a sternum or pelvis (or cut limbs out of a shooting-lane) with ease. As that is where it will get most of its' use, it should have had the organ-protector tip like the knife in the Flip-Blaze kit.
Although I have more than a dozen good hunting knives, when skinning & butchering deer, the skinner & caping knife from this set are always in use. They are very good knives! If the sheath weren't so heavy I would have rated this a 5.

I have owned my Kodi-Pak since 2003. This is an exceptional knife set. I thought that it would have worn out by now, however the blades still hold a superior edge and dont show any signs of rust.
I did add the Swing Blade to this combo which is the best blade I have ever found for opening an animal up with ease.
Every time I go out whether it is for camping, hunting, or just hiking, I have my outdoor products in my pack because you never know when you will need a great knife.
This set will get any job done and last for years and years. Good Luck and Be Safe!

You can field dress 6 deer before you have to think about sharpenning these. I cut through, breast bone, pelvis, hide, ribs, joints, spine, tail and kneck with no problem.

i have used many many knives for gutting deer and this is my favorite. i found it laying in the farm house and used it for the first time on my friends deer and it was great. better than any kershaw set ive used.
