Rated 5 out of 5Â by Ang1987 Great looking reel
Im still new to fly fishing and i did a lot of research on fly reel's. This fly feel is great, a wonderful low price reel from Orvis. The drag feel's great, it's very light weight, and it look's attractive. I matched my with a Orvis Clearwater rod 7'6'' 5wt, mid flex couldn't ask for nothing better for being my 1st combo.

Used this reel on my little 2 wt TFO rod last weekend and absolutely loved it! Even hauled in a 15 inch rainbow...would highly recommend this reel. I have a 5 wt in the same model...and will probably own a few more in my lifetime.

I have three of the Battenkill Barstock (BBS) reels that I have been using for 7 years. The BBS reels are a great reel, light in weight and bullet-proof in durability. Because they are so light they balance wonderfully on light weight rods. I have a BBS-II on an 8'6" 3-wt rod, and I have two of the BBS-III reels on 9' 4-wt rods (the slightly larger BBS-III reel balanced the longer rods better than the BBS-II). Although the reels have only a simple pawl-type drag, it works very well - one of the few examples where simple is superb. If you would have a problem, the Orvis warranty is also simple - they will refund your money on any purchase that isn't 100% satisfactory; anytime, for any reason. You can't get much better than that! If you want a very lightweight, durable and attractive reel; take a good look at the Orvis BBS. They are really sweet!

Rated 4 out of 5Â by Myflyisdown What a drag
Great looking reel, very light and durable. My biggest problem is the drag. Over a period of time, the drag setting loosens while in use. I find myself constantly checking the drag during a day on the water. For 1-3 weight rods this might not be a problem. I've paired it with a Helios 5 wt and ended up switching to a Ross Evolution.

Standard (old school) arbor. Not mid arbor or large arborTop 25 Contributor

Regular. The Mid is bigger, and the large is the largest. From what I recall, the mid has 1.5 x the retreival speed and the large arbor has 2x that of the barstock.1 of 1
