The Orion was a welcome back gift for my son who just returned home from Iraq. We cooked 3 slabs of babyback ribs for in 1 1/2 hours and they were wonderful! This thing is hands off so we could enjoy each others company without being stuck at the grill all day.

I bought this cooker for my husband. My father-in-law had one and we liked the way it cooked. So far we have made turkey, ribs, and fish. All have been very juicy and flavorful. This is a good product for someone who likes to take their time and cook outside. Need to be careful around cooker, it gets extremely hot.

A lot of charcoal may need to add during cooking

Works well in the cold. However wind is not good. The wind will use the coals up fast without a wind screen. This will have affects on the cook time and over all heat in the unitA:Â
I'm in south texas where we don't have TOO many cold days. I have used it in the mid 40s during moderate wind. Just got to make sure the charcoal is soaked well with fluidA:Â
Temperature shouldn`t affect anything. Constant winds may require a little longer cooking time. I advise you to follow the directions and cooking times in the book that come with your unit. It is pretty foolproof.

Not to our knowledge, Orion Cooker® has cooked in temperatures ranging
from 35-40 degrees and there was no change in the cook time.
Does wind effect cooking on the Orion Cooker®?
Yes, substantial winds will cause the briquettes to burn faster then normal.
In this situation, additional coals might be needed to complete the cook.

Not that I am aware of . However it is made of stainless steel so it is very durable . I have had one of mine for over 6 years and it has been outside all the time in Arizona heat. It will lose a lot it`s luster due to the smoking and heat . But always works great . Plus easy cleanup.A:Â
Not from the manufacturer. But keep in mind the entire cooker is Stainless Steel. It's also compact. For mine, I'm just going to tuck it away on the corner of the patio away from direct weather, but it won't rust or corrode in any way! Should last for years uncovered!A:Â

The company claims since it is stainless steel no cover is needed, however it stains and discolors after first use and rusts in the rain. After several uses it will be very dark. But no, no cover is included.
