Needed Purchase Bought the Orion Alerter "Just in Case" Probably more for self defense in case I am not armed. Hopefully never have to use it. Hard to write a review on something I haven't used yet, however I am sure it will work well for whatever it is needed for. June 1, 2012
good value I keep 2 on My 22 ft offshore boat. One in a ditch bag inside of a water tight cannister with extra flares. February 20, 2011
many uses this is a must have for all boaters, ive used it many times and never failed me once,i also bring them when i go camping for signals to my friends when we are hunting , we meet back up by following the flares. one night a large black bear had wandered into our camp site, as our guns were still packed and not even loaded, my flare gun was the closest thing i could grab, the bear started coming toward us as i think we might have set up near a mother and cubs, anyway i fired a flare at him, the incredibl bang scared himas he turned to run the flare hit his side illuminating him, and it looked like he was on fire, needless t5o say it did the job that my gun might not even had done , besides i really did not want to kill the bear which i would have been forced to do if i only had my rifle, and i would of had to do it in front of my daughter, and she loves bears. so all in all ive found numerous uses for this flare gun. i even used it on the fourth of july in the fireworks finallee, buy it it is cool August 30, 2008
