While some Old Town canoes are designed to handle up to 5 horsepower motors, we generally recommend that motors on traditional double ended canoes be limited to 3 hp.
One horsepower is approximately equal to 15 pounds of thrust. For 3 hp try a 45 lb thrust and for 5 hp try 75 lb thrust.
